Sony G1posted by LRY
Not content to let Canon have all the fun naming cameras with the letter "G". Sony introduces the G1. (Thankfully they didn't start at G6 or G7 or something.) Anyway. it's a 6 MP. Super SteadyShot equipped pocket point-and-shoot with sensitivity up to ISO 1000. Big new feature however is one-touch Wi-Fi DLNA wireless compatibility for photo sharing/uploading. Oh yeah. it also has 2 GB (that's right) built-in memory. a 3.5 inch LCD screen with 921.000 pixels. and Sony's in-camera image management system that can search by event. face. color. or name. All yours for a cool $600 starting in April. Sorry. no Face Detection however.
Sony's G1 lens is a 38-114mm (equivalent) zoom which is a typical range for ultra-compacts of this type. Very usable but not a real wide angle–just enough for those wide group photo shots. Did I say there's no Face Detection? Oh well. This little beauty has plenty of Sony ultra-compact panache regardless. << Back to PMA 2007 Blog |
