Strength:

Mad crazy colours!

Weakness:

ISO 100, with the quaility of most modern film I would not normally use ISO 100 in all but the brightest of days, I think 400 would have been better.

Wow, this film is crazy, the colours are wild, it looks simalar to what you get when you overexpose regular film, some of the picture look like the BG has been added in photoshop, it looks wied!

Strength:

If your mate wants you to photograph his car, this is the film for you.

Weakness:

Skintones. You can photograph cars, landscapes, whatever, just don't photograph people up close.

Excellent super saturated film. If you are looking for natural colours and nice skin tones, look elsewhere. If you are looking for intense colours this is as close to Fuji Velvia as you can get without going to a slide film.

Always surprises you Brightens up a dull day

Weakness:

Not available in 120 format Not ISO 400

Whoa, there!!! Where did those colours come from?! Yellows and pinks that jump out and throttle you. Blues and greens a little more sedate. THE film if you want wild, unbalanced and completely unrealistic colours. If you don't, don't buy it. How simple can it be?! I love it! What a shame it's not a bit faster and available in 120 format - it'd be fantastic in my Holga.

Strength:

Greens, blues & reds are rich. Finer grain than Optima.

Weakness:

Brown spots. Dull, pail yellows.

This film is can produce quite nice results after some photoshop-ing. Right out of the camera the photo usually comes out brilliant but the yellows are usually pail. Also there tends to be big brown spots all over the picture. The grain on this film is nothing to complain about. It's certainly not as bad as it's big brother, the Optima. If you try this film, be prepared to do some work to the pics on the computer. The end result can be quite refreshing however. A good example of this can be found at my website http://rotorblades.us

Well after complaining about the spots then sent me a couple more rolls of the stuff but they won't confess the problem is on their end.

Strength:

Eye popping super color, Excellent skin tones. Just try it.

Weakness:

Yes, it is grainy, but it actually adds to the high contrast and color warmth.

Simply incredible! This is the best film I have ever used. If you love eye popping color and like to be creative with your color schemes then you need look no further than this film. Many films claim to be color saturated but they don't come anywhere near Agfa Ultra. I bought 3 rolls to use while on caribean vacation where there were beautiful blue skies and water, white sand beach and palm trees. I also photographed some native people and other tourists. My photos were magnificent!I am hooked. (See the Punta Cana pix at www.fotohighway.com)

Strength:

Vivid color, very low grain, high contrast (this can also be a weakness)

Weakness:

does not tolerate over exposure, poor for overcast days

This is a vivid film that is good for bright sun outdoors photos. I photographed some rather unimpressive sunsets with this film, but the resultant photos produced wonderful color. This film also produces accurate color with indoor flash. However I have to agree with some of the other reviews. This film does not like to be overexposed. + 1/2f results in greens taking a yellow cast and highlights blocking up. Overcast skys produce a yellow cast also.

Strength:

Vivid and true good balanced colours, in spite of that not excessive. Grain, sharpness. Price!

Weakness:

Strong cyan tendency on fog subdueded mountains.

A very pleasant surprise for outdoor photography. Vivid and true and in spite of that not excessive and good balanced colours included skin colours. A little strange look colours of fog subdueded mountains. In such case the colour has a strong cyan tendency. The sky has its natural colour. The grain is small comparable with the one of Kodak Supra 100, the same can be said about the sharpness. My setup: Contax cameras with Zeiss lenses and Tokina SZ-X 28-105mm zoom. Printed in a Kodak lab on Kodak Royal paper.

Strength:

absolutely none

Weakness:

Oversaturated yellow, orange instead of red, zero tolerance to overexposure except for the deep dark-blue sky.

The worst most miserable film I've ever used! This film intensifies only 1 color, and this color is YELLOW and yellow only. Green looks unnaturally bright and impure (yellowish-green). No red color whtsoever, not even with the "B+W" enhancer, colors never get beyond the orange. Extremely narrow exposure latitude: 1 f-stop overexposure and the image is washed out. The sky looks deep blue when pushed many f-stops over, but it is too dark. And I loved the good old Ultra-50, and I will buy the Supra-400, while I still can.

Strength:

-Amazing colors -No visible grain -Fairly inexpensive

Weakness:

-Need a pro lab to print it correctly. -Don't use any color-enhancing filters, or you will get quite exotic colors!

Having shot over 30 rolls of this stuff over the last six months, I can safely say that this is a wonderful landscape print film for those who are looking for that little extra "kick" in their pictures. This film produced some of my best landscape works of Zion, Capitol Reef and Grand Canyon National Parks. Make sure to use a pro lab that knows how to print it to get the best results. When printed on Kodak Royal paper, the results are often Velvia-like, with amazingly vivid and realistic colors and no visible grain. I love this film!

Strength:

Colors, especially greens and blues

Weakness:

Who is it made for?

This film prides itself on color saturation. What I realized is that not all colors are getting saturated the same. Warmer colors come through weaker and more washed out than greens and blues. The blue has an especially strong presence, and if you include clear sunny sky in your picture it will turn out quite exotic. Color accuracy is off by a mile. If you've never seen a blue hippo I can send you a picture of one taken with Ultra. This film has no sharpness to speak of, unlike other 100 ISO films. Even closeup shots are blurry. And used a very sharp, clean lens. To Ultra 100 is too unique and tricky to be used on regular basis. I knew it was not a general-purpose film going in, but I never expected to find no purpose for it at all.
