Strength:

Leica lens.
25-300 mm zoom.
Size
iA mode
Video has it's own button on the back

Weakness:

Only thing I have found is the dial can sometimes move off the mode setting when taking it out of my pocket or case.

After a camping trip in December of 2009 with some friends I once again found myself regretting leaving my SLR at home. Although my Casio was nice and small, had lots of modes along with manual setting I was doing better with my iPhone than with it many times. So I was determined to find a new point and shoot that I could take with me on a trip and not kick myself because it didn't go wide enough, zoom in enough or took aweful low light photos.

I believe I have found that in the ZS3 although though their are no full manual setting I found with my previous P&S camera I very rarely if ever used that feature. The iA mode works very well and I like the ability to choose two modes as favorites on the dial. The ZS3 is pretty small for what it does, maybe just a little big to be truly pocketable but very close to it. I love having the range of 25-300 with me with out lugging tons of gear with me. It does respectable in low light situations.

I just gave it a true test, took it with me on a 10 day 2500 mile motorcycle trip where taking my SLR gear with completely out of the question. This is the first time I have taken a trip with a P&S and not regretted having my SLR. The ZS3 did everything I asked of it. My husband was relieved to not hear me fussing about not having my SLR.

If you are looking for the most you can get in a small package take a look at a ZS3.

Strength:

Leica lens.
25-300 mm zoom.
Excellent macros.
10/12 mp multi-aspect sensor.
Separate video record button.
High quality stereo sound.
Made in Japan.

Weakness:

25-300 mm zoom range should be 35-420 mm.
No separate metering for video recording.
No maximum ISO setting.

Best pocket superzoom camera for getting the picture that requires the long zoom. Also does very well with macro closeups. Videos are outstanding - clean and clear with little or no camera noise, excellent sound, and real stereo! Battery life is also good. The separate video record button is very useful.
