Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $50.00 from B&H

Summary:

Overall, a good value for the price paid. Bounce and zoom positions are very nice features. Most photo results were of good to acceptable exposure. Produced under-exposed results in a number of situations - seems unable to produce sufficient power output. This flash should please most beginners and some intermediates, but will leave others, including experts, wanting more.

Strengths:

Lightweight, bounce & zoom capabilities, multiple auto flash metering including TTL, good value for price

Weaknesses:

Insufficient lighting output in various modes. Poor/dark exposure when used with a 28mm lens without wide angle adapter [this flash is designed for focal lengths 35mm - 70mm]. Only 1 bounce position [60 deg]; wish it also had 30 and 45 deg positions. Flash does not feel sufficiently "solid." Conflicting info in owner's manual for correct TTL switch position for Minolta X series cameras.

Similar Products Used:

Sakar

Customer Service:

E-mail their customer service dept numerous times seeking purchase info for a 28mm wide angle adapter for this flash. Never received a single response. Extremely poor service. Keep this in mind before you purchase a Sunpak flash.

Summary:

Very good flash for the money. If you do not need a flash at 28mm of any distance and have a TTL camera mounted flash. Then this is the flash for you.

Strengths:

Very efficient, Good recycle time, and reange

Weaknesses:

covers wide angle to 35MM Would be nice if it were effective to 28mm

Pentax AF-201Sa

Customer Service:

Have not used customer service, but I do have a 266d that I need repaired after several thousand flashes.
