Singh-Ray Filters Circular Polarizer Plus Series

This is a review of the Singh-Ray Gold and Blue Circular Polarizer. I have the 72mm filter size. Although this is a very pricy filter, this unique CP filter is literally GOLD. Used properly under the correct lighting, and on the proper subjects, this filter can truely make the difference in your outdoor photography and will be worth your investment. Used improperly, it can make all your pictures look like you were on Mars. I regard the 'proper' use of this filter near 1. Water and 2. Blue open skies. I am sure there are other uses, but I found these subjects to be the most amenable to this filter from the perspective of realism. Well, what magic does this filter do? It acts as a CP except that it adds either a GOLD at one extreme to a BLUE on the other, and a mixture in between when rotated. Reflected light can have some pretty unusual effects. I took a photo shoot in a burned out part of Glacier National park recently and the burned trees were turned blue and then gold upon rotation. Interesting. The effect on bodies of water is incredible and looks more realistic as water is expected to be blue. Skies that are clear are turned the most spectacular blue I have ever seen. Clouds are turned an unusual magenta color. So I really can only recommend this filter to the photographer of a conservative bent if you shoot a lot of the two elements described above (i.e. water and blue skies). I really like this filter, obviously. It's a steep price to pay but it really is interesting to play with. The adventurous photographer will love this. Plus the filter is made to impeccable quality standards. Comes with a very nice lined slip case.

Blue skies and water can be transformed into awesome colors. Super quality filter.

Price, but I am sure the filter cost a lot to make too.

I´m also very satisfied with the optical quality if filter, but AVOID cokin sprocket ring version if you want to use filter with wide LENS!!! I have taken several pictures with Tokina 20-35 ATX II with this filter mounted and I was really unpleasantly surprised! There could be seen filter´s edge at my slides!!!! It seems so cokin version can be used max. to 25mm wide lens

I bought their warming polarizer. I love this filter besides its hard to turn and you must have a Cokin filter system. The quality can't be understated, producing some incredible results. The balance is PERFECT for warming and polarizing. It's especially usefull in low light being one of "the" required pieces of a professional gear in my opinion. I use it like there's no tomorrow, and just love the results. It really can make a good picture outstanding.

Little loss of light for a polarizer, VERY high quality, no flare/ghosting problems.
