Review 1 of 23

Price Paid:  $135.00 from Ubid.com

Summary:

I purchased this camera through Ubid.com in October of 2002. Since this was going to be my first digital camera, I wanted to avoid paying alot of money until I found out how I would like using one. This is a great camera with alot of features and I got it for a great price. I bought the camera, a soft side compact camera case, 2-64MB CF cards and 2 sets of NIMH batteries with charger for about $200.00. I have read the reviews about this camera eating batteries but have not had that experience, although I don't normally use the LCD. I also have read about poor cust service from Kodak but have experienced just the opposite. About a month ago it started not powering up when you would turn it on, I called Kodak and the cust svc was great. They listened to the problem gave me a return authorization code and then xferred me to the extension for the automated address. I sent the camera in through UPS, I then got an E-mail from them the day they received it and then got the camera back repaired 7 days after they received it. I have had nothing but a good experience with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good, high quality entry level camera. It takes good pictures, has useful features and transfer is easy with the USB cable provided.

Strengths:

Size, photo quality, price, ease of use

Weaknesses:

None

Review 2 of 23

Price Paid:  $250.00 from crcuit city

Summary:

good Pictures, eats batteries

Strengths:

easy to down load through dock

Weaknesses:

I have had problems, as my friend has with is, is getting the lens to open up. You have to turn it on and off several times or hit it on the palm of your hand to get the lens to open sometimes. I think this is a defect built into the camera and has to be corrected before I would reccomend this camera to anyone

Customer Service:

I sent my camera in for reapir because iwas told it would be $35, but I was E_mailed a bill for $307.70.

Review 4 of 23

Price Paid:  $219.00 from Best Buy

Summary:

Takes lovely pictures and the 4x6 prints are beautiful too. (I haven't gone any larger) in fact, no one could tell the shots were digital. Very clear and colors are true and vivid. The macro is very good too and I like choosing what type of flash I want. So easy to use and the video capture is nice too, but I never use it. I never had the battery problem since I use the view finder instead of the LCD screen. The users manual tells you that the LCD is a huge battery drain. You can turn it off. We didn't want to pay for the docking station, but I found it as an "out of box" special at Best Buy and am so happy I got it. It charges the batteries and I usually leave it plugged in. I haven't bought batteries in the two years I've owned the camera. I can't imagine a better beginers digital camera.

Strengths:

Crisp, vivid pictures. Easy to use. Menu is simple Auto timer Comfortable to hold. Good software bundle Macro mode up to 1 in. Docking station recharges batteries.

Weaknesses:

Auto compensation for lighting. Hard to get sunset shots because the camera meters on any objects around and washes out sunsets. Bit of a delay from when you push the button until it takes the shot. You lose a lot of action shots. You can meter on the shot, then hold the button down halfway and hold it until you have the shot you want, then push the shutter and there is no delay but it took me a while to figure this out. Kinda clunky and bigger than some cameras in the 2 MP range, but still fits in my purse.

Customer Service:

Haven't had to use the customer service, but Kodak online had all kinds of patches and software for these cameras. I got a photo editor there free and they also have digital photography tutorials online.
