Review 1 of 13

Price Paid:  $5.00 from B&H

Summary:
Being mostly a nature shooting person I like the BIG colors that this film offers. It''s also as sharp as I would ever need, blowing up to 8x12 with ease (could probably go bigger if I had better glass and if I needed it) and stands next to Reala in this respect when the negs are viewed under an 8x loupe. I will say that white people can turn out pretty pink, but I have limited experience with shooting people with Optima II so I can''t say definitively. For my current purposes it happens to be in my top choices for ISO 100 print film. It just pops more than Reala, which I use when I want a little more color accuracy.

Strengths:
-sharp -robust colors (I ask the technician to not do any color comp.) -moderate price (not at brick and mortar stores, though!)

Weaknesses:
-not easiest film to find -pinker than normal caucasian skin

Similar Products Used:
-Fuji Reala -Kodak Supra -Agfa HDC+ 1

Review 2 of 13

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
A strong colour, slightly high contrast film which is quite unique in character. The photos from this film have a optima 100 look from its colour palette. (look at the sky and leaves on the photos and you''ll notice) It provides pleasant results even when the sun hide behind the cloud for a moment. While it may give a slightly tanned look of people who are not tanned, most of the time i still like those photos. Compare to Fuji material, Agfa is apparently is warmer. My photo lab uses amateur Agfa Prestige Digital paper, the proofs are great! I once had it printed on Fuji paper via a Frontier, the results are much inferior.

Strengths:
cheaper than pro fuji in canada quality colour!! very fine grain

Weaknesses:
can''t print on Fuji paper

Review 3 of 13

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
Brutal colour reproduction. Very unsatisfying. I have tried the Agfa Portait 160 and liked it alot. But this film....YUK. I shot it in my Konica Hexar indoors with a flash. Maybe it is a better outdoor film. I don''t know. But I can tell you this... I will not be shooting with it again.

Strengths:
Nice tight grain

Weaknesses:
terrible colour reproduction

Similar Products Used:
Kodak VC and NC, Fugi Reala, Kodak Royal Gold - all good films

Review 4 of 13

Summary:
I use REALA for 90 % of my work and I must say that OPTIMA PRESTIGE II 100 has a fine grain.
The colours are NOT as realistic as REALA and you
will not get good results in mixed light.

This film will satisfy photographers who likes a little more saturated colors than REALA but don´t
need perfect colours.

It is better than any ISO 100 Kodak I ever tried
but it can´t keep up with REALA.

I personally ( after using REALA , AGAIN !)would never use it for weddings.

Sorry for comparing it to REALA but simply there is no other print film that is as terrific as REALA.
If you haven´t tried it yet..JUST DO IT !

Regards Patrik

Strengths:
Fine grain.

Weaknesses:
Green and red are not realistic.Green turns out too cold.(Printed at PRO-AGFA lab! )

Review 5 of 13

Price Paid:  $6.00 from Film Depot

Summary:
The film prefoms at its best during "golden Light," simply beautiful.
enlarges with little increase in grain.
I mentioned that the film is not forgiving, but the rewards of nailing the shot produces the best possible images you can get on print film (C-41).

Strengths:
very natural color rendition and very clean whites. exposure very close to what the Eye sees.
supr shap and super fine grained

Weaknesses:
hard to find. have to take to an up-scale lab.
flat light = flat images.
not real forgiving

Similar Products Used:
Fuji Reala 100, Kodak Royal Gold 100 & Kodak Royal Gold 25
