    Strength:

AWESOME outdoor picture quality, small, fast, easy to use. Good zoom for it''s size

    Weakness:

Indoor pictures aren''t as nice as the outdoor. Only 2.1 Megapixel, no aperature control.

If this camera is on your ''list'' of possible buys, don''t hesitate, buy it. I debated for three weeks between this model, and the Nikon 775. I chose this camera for it''s quality construction and because of the rave reviews that were written about it. After owning it for over a month, I can happily say I made the right choice. The S300 is a great combination of size and features. It only has a 2.1 megapixel CCD, but really, do you need to print higher than 8 1/2 by 11? The camera is very intuitive, and packs an awesome array of features into the small stainless steel case. Definetly buy a larger flash card. With the 128 meg card I have, at the highest quality and resolution setting you can still fit 128 Pictures on the card (WOW!)

    Strength:

Size Image sharpness Color Easy to use So portable You won''t miss a shot Build quality Bright LCD Download software worked first time with no problem

    Weakness:

2.1 megapixels: I would have preferred at least 3 mp. Lacks manual mode, e.g. aperature control, although you can adjust exposure and white point. Battery is small and will require recharging more often -- Buy a second battery. Comes with 8 MB Compact flash -- buy at least 64. No raw mode, but JPEG''s look fantastic. Lacks large feature set found in larger camera.

I looked long and hard before I bought the S300. I have a Nikon N80 and love it but I wanted a small camera, pocket size, to take with me without lugging around a camera bag, keeping my hands free. That doesn''t leave alot. I narrowed it down to the Nikon 885 and Canon S300. I ruled out the S110; even though it was a bit smaller it didn''t have the 3x zoom. I eventually bought the S300 because of it''s great reviews, smaller size and fantastic construction, and $200 less vs the 885 (the 885 does not come with a rechargable battery and charger). The S300 is very solid feeling, excellent build quality, I repeat, excellent build quality, and has a very easy menu to learn and use. It''s basically point and shoot but has excellent logic with great photos. If you want great photos for the computer, internet or 5 x 7''s in a compact form, seriously consider this camera. I did see an 8 x 10 from the S300 and it looked very good.
