    Strength:

nice zoom range, 35-210 equivalent, fast f 2.8 lens at wide end, adequate flash, but with a hot shoe for external flash a big plus. 5 shot burst capability in burst mode, 4 file choices with 4 selections for quality each ! ! Photos that really do look better than any 3-4 MP camera out there, and I had a Casio 3.3 MP 3000 EX that has a genuine Canon lens, and it outshines that camera that I was very happy with. Takes Smart Media cards that are VERY affordable, probably the best bargain out there for camera media. Cheap rechargeable lithium ion batteries that cost the same as ONE camera battery for a regular 35mm camera, that takes TWO of them. Having a car charger is a big plus, charge up while heading to another location is a breeze. Ability to save in tiff mode is a big plus for getting the most info possible in your photo.

    Weakness:

128MB card is biggest you can use. Not a serious draw back, since Smart Media cards are usually 15-25% CHEAPER than most other cards. Batteries last a reasonable time, but always carry a spare.

Given that the "Super CCD" sensor is still used by Fuji alone, one would think it just inst that good. Well, it is, and it isnt. Fuji no longer calls the camera a " 6 MP interpolated" camera, but a 3.3 MP with a 6 million pixel photo file, which is much closer to the truth. You get more information in that file than any other camera outside of a 5 MP camera will give you. It really does " Stuff" the photo file full of every bit of information possible, a credit to Fuji's processing power in-camera. This rivals the other makers " all in one" cameras costing some $400 more. The Zoom is a very credible 35-210, and a fast f 2.8 at the wide end, with great clarity and rendition of colors. with the capability of putting good quality camera filters in front of the lens, you have a quality all in one set up that doesnt require any major fiddling with once out in the field. Just keep shooting ! !

    Strength:

Super lens, but it is a Fuji and their lenses are always the tops. Easy to master and terrific image quality.

    Weakness:

That door, the silly mistake of threading the outer lens body for filters instead of the retracting lens body.

I was forced into buying a digital by two clients so looked for a quality item at the right price, I did not anticipate keeping it after doing the two jobs, how wrong I was! Want to buy a ''blad?

    Strength:

Simple to use; comfortable to use. It requires two hands to operate smoothly but I enjoy that. Zoom is amazing. I take pics mostly on the #m Norm setting and they look great on my computer or hooked up to my 27 in TV. Impresses everyone who sees any shoots. Constantly finding new feautures

    Weakness:

Trobule getting lighting correct. The shutter is amazingly quick, but on those fast settings the pictures come out dark. When trying to take pics in the dark, the flash is phenominal(!) but the autofocus sometimes does not work and the manual focus is not easy to set either. Video is not the clearest, no sound. It doesn''t matter much to me though because I wanted a STILL PICTURE camera and sound would take up more memory preventing more shoots to be taken. Also, the low clarity adds character; I compare it to the opening credits of "The Wonder Years."

I am not a good photographer, so I needed to buy a camera that would do all the work. I picked this one becasue of the SLR style, high zoom, and adaptability to add extra lenses. I enjoy it very much, but I struggle with getting the lighting correct. That is most likely my own inexperience though. I took it on a cross country trip just days after purchase and it takes amazing landscape shots. Sunsets are tough to capture, but like I said it is my own inexperience. The price was not too bad either as any camera in this range had no where near the amount of extras built in. I recommend this for anyone who wants to take near professional quality shoots but is inexperienced in photography. People with experience would definitely be able to take advntage of all it offers from aperture settings to the white balance, ISO and shutter speeds. I am waiting on my Fuji NX-500 printer so I can share these pics with others. I never thought my pictures could look so good.

    Strength:

All above plus the ability to use the camera with wide range of Cokin filters. Works great with external Vivitar flashes(not dedicated)

    Weakness:

Should be shipped with atleast 64MB memory card not 16.Hard to fing good external flash that is dedicated for this camera.

I do not think of any better camera for the money. Great colors and shades. 6x optical zoom can not be beat.Excellent detail and clarity of the lens. Superb picture quality. When printed up to A4 size with good inkjet printer the pictures are equal to 35mm prints. Works great with optional 1x5 zoom converter lens. Great calrity thrugh out entire focal lenght of the lens.6mp setting produces larger images, but the quality is superb.

    Weakness:

Questionable durability of doors and straps. Some redundancy of controls

Purchased Camera for personal use after using Nikon Coolpix 950 and 990 at work. The Fuji is lighter, with a more solid metal case. It''s a personal issue but I prefer the multiple function buttons to give quick access to camera settings, rather than the complex menu setting approach of the Nikon. The Fuji has a small edge with the TTL viewfinder in that all video cameras with LCD''s are useless in strong light while the viewfinder keeps everything in view. The viewfinder itself is low resolution and grainy, but that''s acceptable given it''s purpose and the state of the technology. You will find yourself using the view finder more than the LCD. The macro won''t focus down to the lens front as will the Nikon''s. This isn''t a big deal but if you are into close up''s of flowers, insects and patterns you won''t get the same detail. All the comments about batteries and need for a 128k memory card are accurate. You will need two batteries, at least. The in-camera charge feature is a plus, Nikon don''t have this. The camera strap is a bit thin and is showing some wear around the attachement points. Since this is a rather new camera I would be concerned that the strap may wear through rather quickly leading to a sudden and unexpected drop. I find the lens cap retainer on the strap feature a plus, it keeps the darn cap out of the way and prevent loss. I''m finding the cameras multiple shooting features a bit confusing and redundant. It seems the designers were intent on producing a camera that would be foolproof for about anybody who would use it. But they forgot the old adage about no matter how hard you try, there is always a better fool. The distinctions between Scene Position Auto and Programed aren''t clear but since Auto work well you can ignore the others. The manual settings allowing either shutter or aperature priority are a plus when having control over the camera is essential. I had some difficulty with a strongly backlit subject. The flash is a bit anemic so if you are any distance at all from your subject you will need an accessory flash with more umph than the built in version. It''s a bit slow to recycle as well.

    Strength:

Capable of delivering sharp images of high quaklity in a very wide range of lighting conditions. Exposure and metering modes are excellent and the camera overall is able to provide so much manual control or tweaking of autosettings combined with simplicity of use, this means novice through to advanced photographers are likely to be satisfied with the features available.

    Weakness:

Should be supplied with two batteries and a decent sized smartmedia card. LCD viewfinder is a little grainy but reaction time good, and it is extremely energy efficient, maybe the next model from this stable will be even better in this respect. I also would like to see a dioptic adjustment facility for the LCD viewfinder - I wear glasses these days

I find it laughable that someone can write a disparaging review of this camera after only using it at 1MP setting. The best lens in the world simply cannot be resolved at such a setting. Realistically using the camera at its 3.3 MP setting is the way to go, with 6.0 MP setting useful for eliminating the ''jaggies'' with enlargement beyond A4. I am always dubious about digital zoom features on any camera, but I have found it to be useful at the Fuji''s 3.3 MP settings where it provides a 300mm telephoto effect producing passable A4 printouts. Good for sports photography too when used in conjunction with the 5 fps capture mode. Traditionally digital cameras are not good at action capture, the 6900 is, through write to media times are slow on these setting if you shoot in highest resolution mode (6.0MP interpolated) The lens quality is quite remarkable for sharpness and contrast though the distortion at either end of the zoom range is a little too noticeable - but I can live with this as I found the camera can produce highly passable results at apertures of f2.8-f3.1 when situations dictate extreme measures. The fact that the camera can be set fo ISO ratings from 100 - 400 is a good one, admittedly at high ISO settings picture quality drops in the shadows and highlights can bleach, so be careful how you use those settings. (Dont habituate) Overall the colour quality provided by this camera is superlative, as is the sharpness and gamma. Sorry Fuji but you have succeeded in producing a camera that delivers Kodachrome colours (Mmmmmm, Lovely!) Some people complain the camera is on the light side, cant say I can complain after toting around Nikon F4''s and DI''s (which I still have to use) - the lightness is refreshing. Some people also think the camera may be fragile, well, I have yet to see a digital camera that did not have a fragility factor in some way. (The little Canons'' being an exception)I for one would never ''batter'' a digital camera, despite fewer moving parts, miniaturisation has its penalties in the robustness stakes. I dont use this camera for ''serious'' photography, but then again I would not use 35mm for ''serious'' photography either I would advise is the purchase of a couple of 128Mb smartcards & spare battery (both of which can be bought cheaper than Fuji''s via third party suppliers.) Filter adapter should be considered too - v
