Strength:

Neat, lightweight, compact, almost pocketable.

Weakness:

None discerible.

Although I owned the previous model 90mm f/2.8 R, I traded it in for the later model, now discontinued of course. The later lens meets its claims with ease, furthermore it is lighter and more compact, and allegedly better at closer range than the earlier pattern. The latter point has not been checked. Having said all that, there was something incredibly transparent about the early pattern. Agreed, it was long and heavy, but it was stunning at full aperture, and colour rendering and drawing was superb. Anyone holding the early pattern are advised to hang on to it, unless you need the lighter and more compact version.
