Strength:

Size, build quality, uniqueness.

Weakness:

Truly good pictures require a lot of effort setting up. The OM brochure states that high maginfication pictures are as easy to achieve as taking snapshots. My experience is that if this is taken literally, all you end up with are snapshots! Do your homework to get those stunning 'one off' images!

I no longer own this lens, but as there are no reviews, my opinion may be useful. I regret ever selling this piece of kit, as it is capable of producing truly unique images, from a world that is generally hidden from most of us. However, it does need to be used with some specialised equipment to get the best out of it. The Zuiko 20mm f2 macro is beautifully crafted lens, and very small with a tapered profile that allows a ring flash to be attached without the lens blocking the flash output. The lens must be mounted on some form of extension tube, i.e 65-116 telescopic auto tube or bellows. I opted for the former and could photograph plants and beasties up to around 9 X life size (auto bellows allows a greater magnification than this). A sturdy tripod is also required, as is a focusing rail to make minute adjustments - remember, at 9 x life size focus shift of less than a millimeter can render a crucial part of the picture out of focus. If you are prepared to put the effort in to composure, lighting and subject matter, you will be rewarded with stunning slides.
