Strength:

Fast auto focus, low shutterlag, sharp images, good colors

Weakness:

very easy to get red eyes on people even with red eye turned on. Camera is a little slower when using flash

I just bought this camera for my wife. She wanted a light and easy to use camera. I have a Canon 10D with a 28-80L and a canon 550ex flash which was getting to heavy for her to use. I've had other point and shoot digital and haven't ever been impress by them. They all had too much shutterlag and image quality wasn't even close to my 10D. The A610 was a real suprise to me I was impressed as soon as I turned it on. It starts up almost instantly. It has very little shutterlag. and focuses quickly. The best part is the image quality. I compaired this camera with my 10D and the 28-80L. At low ISO's the A610 looked sharper and the colors look great. This is by far the best point and shoot digital camera that I have used.

little heavy, so many shooting modes can be overwhelming at times

The Canon Powershot A610 is a Great camera for any one from beginner to advanced. The DIGIC II processor makes it super fast. The 4x optical zoom lenses is great and can be combined with the 4x digital zoom for a 16x total zoom. 5.0-megapixel CCD sensor gives you superior image quality.
