    Strength:

More compact build than my prior 990 and more in line with the 950. They've actually put a wrist strap swivel on the body (Hooray!) and added a lithium-ion battery. Excellent exposure and picture quality with lots of shooting options. Swivel body continues to have its uses.

    Weakness:

Balance between the two parts of the body has changed with less battery weight so that the camera just barely sits on the trigger section base when the lense half is in shooting position. Adding on an accessory lenses makes it so that you can no longer set the camera down w/o a tripod when using the self timer. They've deleted the automatic power-on when the shutter release is pushed once feature which I dislike. Also, the shape of the body, nice when shooting, doesn't match up well when doing longer exposures w/o a tripod. You used to be able to (with the 950 and 990) to rest the hand grip/shutter half of the swivel face down on a table, chair or floor while tilting the lense section towards the subject. It's not quite as stable as it was before. Also, I wished the lense was wider (28mm focal length, 35mm film equiv.) like that in the Nikon 5000.

Excellent build quality, lots of shooting/exposure options, excellent color balance, 4 meg. image size, rechargeable Lithium-ion battery a plus, swivel body and CF Type I & II cards

    Customer Service

After using the various Coolpix models for 5 years and many trips in Europe, I've never had a service issue.

    Strength:

*Metal body, looks better, secure *The first coolpix camera with P A S M modes. *The different shooting modes are pretty useless to me, mostly I shoot in manual mode, but it's good for beginners. *35seconds filming with sound. *Stylish. *4times zoom

    Weakness:

*35seconds movie clip could be much longer. *The movie clip is .mov file, which means you can only view them by QuickTime Player, I would rather have it in .mepg file, that makes life easier for everyone and doesnt' take that much memory. *Shutter lag *Too much noise while filming *Flash is so weak, makes me feel like there is no flash going at all.(all build in flash is like this)

This is my first digital camera, I bought this coolpix4500 totally just for fun. Film is just so much more important to me right now. I've had this camera for about 2months, it's really useful and convinient. Even though it's not a professional camera and u can not change the lens like D100, but for a 4mega pixel camera, coolpix4500 is really a great one. Also the price is pretty resonable. I enjoyed using the continues mode with the 35seconds filming including sound. The flash could be better, stronger, all the build in flash is like this anyway. But we need to consider about this before buying, it will cost heaps to buy a extra flash, and a grip to put together with the 4500, so just condider about it. I haven't really used it much because I am mostly using my Film SLR and as I said, I bought this 4500 is just for some testing. I haven't had any problems with it and it's easy to operate and it's very stylish. The battery life is good enough for that kind of size camera with such a little battery. To conclu this, I would recommend this camera to anyone who's interested buying a 4mega pixel with a cheap price it's worth it.
