Tamrac 697/698 Big Wheels Rolling Backpacks Backpacks

Tamrac 697/698 Big Wheels Rolling Backpacks Backpacks

DESCRIPTION

The Big Wheels Rolling Photo Backpack - LP7 is large enough for most photo situations and will hold a digital or film SLR with large tele-photo lens attached and a very broad selection of equipment. Based on the Big Wheels Rolling Photo Backpack - LP8 (Model 698) but smaller, the Big Wheels Rolling Photo Backpack is designed for those situations where our super-sized 698 is just not needed. As with the larger model, this backpack is fully foam padded and constructed of PowerGrid Cordura. It also has numerous internal dividers to customize the bag to any combination of digital, film and medium format cameras and a large assortment of lenses. The front pocket is foam padded for accessories, files or even a notebook computer like Apple¹s PowerBook G4 or others as large as 10.75" x 2" x 14". Internal Windowpane-Mesh pockets help organize filters, cleaning materials and other small items. Model 697 is Modular Accessory System and S.A.S. compatible and utilizes our QuickClip tripod attachment system to carry most professional tripods.

Strength:

Carries a lot, versatile dividers and space.

Weakness:

Above mentioned wheels... too few 'smaller' pockets for all the various extra knick-knacks and accessories (film, memory cards, batteries, etc.) you always end up carrying. Mostly just one big space with the dividers. As the other gentleman said... QUITE pricey. (The one I bought is the 698, the larger of the two.) I agree with him, though, if it works properly, it's well worth it.

So far I'm not really happy with it. I think mine might have defective wheels, because it's EXTREMELY difficult to roll. It's actually easier to CARRY my old bag! I'm going to take it back for a replacement... hopefully it'll be better.

Strength:

Extremely sturdy and well built. Extremely versatile - 1. a rolling case, 2. top and side handles for carrying, and 3. a harnmess for use as a backpack. Just the right size.

Weakness:

This isn't really a weakness, but it's a bit pricey. However, I was happy to pay the price. I guess you get what you pay for.

This is the extremely useful and versatile camera pack I've always dreamed of and hoped a manufacturer would make some day. The big 4" rubberized wheels make it easy to roll my equipment over even rough terrain. It can easily be converted into a comfortable backpack, if needed. It is just the right size for the amount of equipment and film I carry. Finally, an extremely practical camera case that will make life easier for my back and shoulders.
