The DVW-709WS is a high-end Digital Betacam camcorder that uses IT-type CCDs. IT CCDs are found in almost every industrial and broadcast camera on the market today. The camera retains all the custom picture look capabilities and the other design and convenience features of the top-of-the-line DVW-790WS with FIT chips. When comparing specifications, the major difference is the Vertical Smear characteristics of the cameras. The DVW-709WS vertical smear specification of -120dB is still quite superior to most industrial cameras. Sonys IT chips have been developed over the years to performance approaching FIT chip specifications at significantly lower cost.
