Summary:
I own a couple of pelican cases; 1300, 1450, and the 1500. I trust all my camera equipment to pelican cases, they have alway protected my gear. Ive dropped one of the side of a mountain, in a river, and recently left one on the top of my car and didnt realize it until i slammed on the brakes at 50mph, and after all of this my camera gear is still in perfect working condition. And everyone i know who uses them has the same relliance in them.

Strengths:
custamizable foam, strong shell, sturdy latches, waterproof. And I love the pressure equalization valve.

Weaknesses:
unless you pull out the o-ring seal, theyre shouldnt be any. this thing is damn near nuke proof!

Customer Service:
you break it, theyll replace it!

Summary:
WARNING..."watertight" does not mean you can submerge the case. It will leak if you do. My case leaked after floating it in the water at the beach. Salt water ruined all my gear. Called Pelican and they said "watertight" to them does not mean submersible. I would call that false advertising and a scam!

Not watertight!!

Summary:
I am an avid outdoors photographer who gets constant exposure to extreme weather: rain, heat, snow, altitude, you name it. I needed a tough plastic case that was air and watertight. I spent some time comparing different brands. I decided to purchase the Pelican Case. Since then, I have carried my trusted companion through rugged terrain, dropping it against rocks and in water, using it as a chair, and I have even stood on it to get that perfect shot.

Strengths:
It carries a lifetime guarantee. Watertight, airtight and extremely tough.

Weaknesses:
None found.

After many years of abuse I lost the original purge valve screw. I contacted Pelican Case customer support to obtain a replacement part and their response was terrific: they sent me a whole new upgraded automatic purge valve as part of the warranty. www.casesbypelican.com

Summary:
If protection of your equipment is your concern above all else, then look no further than Pelican. A few reviews claim that the case is bulky, heavy, and awkward, but those characteristics display its ability to protect... Tough and solid. I would much rather lug a heavy case around with the confidence that my equipment is safe than open a lightweight, easy to carry case of lesser quality only to find shattered contents. Determine your priorities, then make the choice of which case you buy.

Strengths:
Heavy duty. The case is made to protect, and it shows it.

Weaknesses:
At times, the small wheels don't provide enough ground clearance to prevent the case from scraping the ground over uneven surfaces.

Summary:
I have the Pelican 1650 case with the padded dividers. I think this case could survive several world wars. It's big, bulky and heavy. Not for the 98 pound weakling to haul around. I'm totally serious on this point. There is an optional stick on organizer that fits into the inside lid of the case that is very useful for small items. The problem with this is that you probably cannot fly with it. I'd hate to see the reaction if you tried to carry on this beast. This will be a check in item and I am sure will be 'excess baggage' -- a costly option. I've taken it in the car once. It barely fit in the trunk and was a nightmare to drag up flights of stairs at the Motel 6. Pelican makes smaller cases, though. If you go towards this massive behemoth please do make sure that you can handle it. The storage room is amazing. This case can take anything anywhere. This case could probably be used to explore the outer reaches of the Amazon or some other remote wild place. It's watertight (not tested by me but I believe it) like a canoe. I am using it for permanent storage of little used equipment right now. I doubt it will travel with me much.

Strengths:
Strength and undoubted durability. I could jump up and down on it.

Weaknesses:
Heavy. Very Heavy. Extremely Heavy. Airlines will doubt your sanity.
