Strength:

OMG CUTE!!!! (Did I just type that in a review?!) It really is that cute. The strength in that is I can as easily take it to a friend's party or an industry party when I'm dressed up and not look like the photographic half of me just came out from camping. It's handy on the road when I go out with the client and want a camera with me, but don't want to bring a backpack full of gear.

Weakness:

The only weakness I can really think of is that it doesn't come with a shoulder strap. There are two loops hidden in the side pockets which might accomodate a strap, but I'd love a white or red one to coordinate with the bag. Since I've only had it a few weeks, I can't write about wear and tear, but I don't plan on using this on a daily basis.

I have noticed that in the past five years or so, there have been little niche companies designing camera bags geared specifically toward the female photographer. I'm not uber-girly, but on the other hand, I'm usually bored by the bland, utilitarian, outdoorsey camera bags that can usually be found for sale. Crumpler, for one, has certainly raised the design bar, but they are still a little too sporty for my tastes. Enter Acme Made - edgy, hip camera bags geared towards those whose tastes run quickly away from National Geographic to the coolest part of downtown. I walked into B&H to buy a camera strap and walked out with a shiny red bowler bag for my dSLR.

The bag is red PVC on the outside and has quilted red padding on the inside. It has one movable partition on the inside (velcro) to adjust for your camera size. The top panel zips shut - two zippers on either side with a white handle to pull them at the same time. There are two slim outside pockets on either end of the outside which are good for business cards, lipstick, CF cards and whatnot. The bag itself can hold a dSLR and a flash at the same time. The bag is larger at the top, so the camera fits in lens down with the body held up by the partition. Once the bag is zippered shut, the camera is held filmy in place. It's simple, cute and most definitely an attention getter. I've received the most attention from men marveling at the cuteness of the bag, but one woman did chase me down at the W in Chicago to find out where I got it!
