Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $35.00 from Wolf Camera

Summary:

I bought this bag wanting something to carry the most basic of essentials. The 515 fits the bill nicely. Anyone wishing to do the same ought to consider this one. Those desiring to tote a traveling warehouse should look elsewhere.

Strengths:

This bag can carry my Canon Rebell 2000 (with BP 200) and my Sigma 28-200 (and I don't mean the new compact one either). I can carry some batteries and lens tissue in the inside mesh pocket. The outside pocket easily a few rolls of film holds or my flash while I put film in my pants pockets. The bag easily accomdates additional pouches so other items can be carried as well. The main compartment is padded and protects your camera nad lens.

Weaknesses:

It would have been nice if the outside pocket were padded. Just be careful of what you put in it. The main weakness is my fault, not Tamrac's. Though it does hold my camera and lens, it doesn't hold it as well as I'd like. The bag is very stuffed when carrying my equipment, especially when I put my 2x teleconverter in the bottom of it. Then with the strap plus spare batteies, zipping it shut can be more difficult. But that's my fault-- I should have opted for the larger model.

Similar Products Used:

Canon shoulder bag. Good for storing and protecting your equipment while not in use or for safely transporting it from point A to point B. Too inconvient to carry while equipment is in use.

Customer Service:

Never needed.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $25.00 from bhphotovideo.com

Summary:

I''m very fond of this bag. I wanted a nice looking bag that could carry my basic gear and provide a means of expansion. After using the similar Tamrac Zoom 16 and becoming dissatisfied with it, I settled on this 515 model and have been very happy with it. I use it with a Canon Elan 7e, usually with a 28-105 EF lens attached. This fits in quite well. I can get a 220EX flash and a few rolls of film in the front pocket. By adding M.A.S. accessories on either side, I can take a lot more. I find that kind of flexibility makes photography a bit more enjoyable for me. I always want to have the right amount of photo gear (not too much or too little) and I don''t want it to get in my way. This system has met those needs.

Strengths:

Very well built and padded. Nice looking. The flexibility of the M.A.S. system of accessories makes it easy to take along another flash or lens.

Weaknesses:

The front pocket is not padded.

Similar Products Used:

Other Tamrac bags, including the similiar Tamrac Zoom 16. This bag is much nicer.

Customer Service:

Not used, but they do have a very nice Web site.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $25.00 from B&H Photo

Summary:

I purchased this bag for my wife's Rebel 2000 and EF 28-105mm USM. There's just enough room for this rig with the strap attached (folded on top of the camera). The bag is durable and good looking in gray. She is not "into" photography, she just needs a camera for her work (documenting interior design projects). The bag and camera get tossed into and around the back of her Suburban on a daily basis. With over a year of service, the bag looks brand new and the camera has been well protected. That's what a bag is supposed to do! There is very little room for much else - maybe two or three rolls of film in the front pouch and spare batteries in the top inside zippered flap. But this bag was made for quick and easy transport of a camera and that's it! Have not tried the belt attachment, so no experience with that. Overall, an excellent bag and a good value. I highly recommend Tamrac. Whenever I need a bag, I can choose exactly what I want fromt their website. It is well developed and there are detailed interior layouts for every bag in their line. An outstanding selling tool. Well done Tamrac!

Strengths:

Small
Durable
Attractive
Gets the job done

Weaknesses:

Limited accesory capacity (but that's the point of this case)

Similar Products Used:

Tamrac Superlight 5 (5405)
Tamrac Superlight 44 (5444)
Numerous "throw-away" bags

Customer Service:

No experience, but Tamrac has the best website for product selection.
