Gateway DV-S20 Pocket Multi-Cam

Gateway Trick and no Treat I purchased the Gateway Digital 2.1 Camcorder near Christmas . Just what I needed, works fine, or at least it did. The compartment that covers the battery will not close because a small piece inside is broken off. The piece that covers the UBS Ports and connections to the PC will not close, due to the fact it increased in size because of the temp. If this is not enough, to this date, zero rebate. Called several times for ech of the above,no postive results. Gateway can purchase other companies, but ignores it's clients and public who purchase the Gateway Products. No more for me, Gateway you can keep the rebate and I will continue to maintain the Camcorder with it's tape to close the battery cover. It will remind me never purchase " Gateway ".

Ignores all request for rebates. Camcorder works great. Battery cover very sloppy, breaks easy, customer service wants to charge. Product not 120 days old,

I got one of these DV cams for christmas, so far I really like it (was a nice deal, the camera is normally 200.00, but they had a rebate, if you buy the 40 dollar accessory kit, they give you $100.00 of the camera, I bought one, and so far I am pleased, while it's not a mini DV cam (tape based)it is good on it's own right, it's not supposed to replace a more expensive Camcorder, just a more convienent thing to carry, it takes nice photos, and the videos aren't bad, kinda jerky sometimes, but mostly good, I think the previous reviewer was expecting more out of this device (he compared it to regular camcorders, of course it will fail there, then again, show me a new camcorder for under $200.00), it has some weaknesses, the zoom (digital 2.5x) only works for video, not for still shots, the lens is prefocused. Those are my only complaints, everything else seems nice, works as expected (useable videos), inexpensive, very portable. all in all a nice compliment to my Sony Digital 8 camcorder, good for those times I don;t wanna carry the camcorder around, but want videos, plus I love the video screen, the swivel design will allow me to get shots I'd otherwise miss with my Toshiba PDR-3300. all in all a nice Camera

no zoom at all for still shots, digital zoom otherwise, prefocused lens without macro mode
