Summary:

One of the easiest products i've used. Only thing i found was it took awhile for the serial port to reconize the product. Snaps look great.

Strengths:

lots of features and a simple remote which can operate most of the features. Price was really good under 1100.00 with tax Cdn there jpl software works great sorda like the Adobe Premire. Not near as powerfull mind you easier to use.

Weaknesses:

Needs a IEEE 1394 or Firewire to have the video on the pc. Means you gotta buy a 100.00 cdn card. Battery only lasts 60mins using the eye piece they should have thrown in a 2 hr battery

Similar Products Used:

Canon, Sharp, Sony

Customer Service:

I did use them and they are decent in responce with regards to the firewire

Summary:

Not a bad little camera, the size is the biggest plus. I got this camera to take videos and snapshots of my new baby for the relatives. The camera is very good for well lit videos, but as with most of the DVM series, the low light filming is not very good. Transfer to PC is pretty quick using the firewire port. I use Ulead Video software that came with my firewire card, and not the JVC software.

There was a review of the 70, someone mentioned a bad experience with windy audio, this has a built in setting to eliminate wind. Don't know if that guy used that feature. There are a lot of built in settings that are fun to try, including a widescreen setting, sepia color, b&w shooting, slo-motion, and various other effects to use while shooting.. Being technical by nature, I found these features a plus, and not too hard to find and set. The only thing I wish I could set is the snapshot mode, I don't always want to record 5 seconds of audio on a snapshot, I wish it would just take a picture and use maybe 2 seconds of tape, and bump up the quality of the pic instead of using the tape for audio and a still image.

Thankfully I got a better deal than MSRP, I would expect more from a $1400 camera

Strengths:

Size is greatest asset, video is clear, audio is good as well. Great built-in features, fast PC transfer

Weaknesses:

Low light shooting terrible, VERY short battery life, esp. with flip out screen
