Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $784.00 from A&M Photoworld

Summary:

I am very impressed with this camera. Image quality is excellent for a camera in this price range. My footage looks as good as some of the footage produced by higher end cameras at my school. The still quality is excellent as well, you would not expect that from a camcorder. I would definitely recommend this camera as an entry level 3 CCD camera if you are not willing to fork out $2000-$3000 for the more professional models.

Strengths:

Excellent video clarity, the 3 chips are put to very good use. Nice large 3.5" screen. 3 Megapixel stills are great. Good manual control for white balancing and focus etc. Leica Dicomar lens produces excellent footage. Optical image stabilizer keeps your footage steady.

Weaknesses:

Lack of hot shoe for extra lighting and such. Low light conditions are not ideal for this camera. Memory card access is a little on the slow side.

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $1301.00 from Infinity Cameras

Summary:

The Camera is not bulky. The Video Images are great under natural light. Had a bit of a problem getting clear shots under poor lighting condition. that is not a handicap since it has a hot shoe that I can use for an external light if neccessary. The still photos are great, I moved videos into my Mac fairly easily with use of a firewire cable and still pictures into my PC with the included USB cable with relative ease. Panasonic would have done a better job to inform us that The i-Link cable is a 6/4 instead of a 4/4 as listed on their site. Overall I feel very satisfied with this Camera.

Strengths:

3CCD, tons of features. Optical image stabilization, auto and manual focus gives you near total control of your images. The price is really good.

Weaknesses:

Poor performance under Low light condition.

Customer Service:

Good.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $1299.00 from 1-877-camera

Summary:

I bought this camcorder because I always wanted a 3 chip camcorder and this one broke that price barrier by several hundred dollars. When I got it Ifound it had still features that still digital cameras could only dream of. The first is optical stablization which makes possible holding the camera still at far zoom settings, and it has a 10 to 1 zoom much more than most still cameras. The most surprising feature however was the instant still shot capability, when you snap the picture you get the shot not a half a second later. Ofcourse the colors are brilliant with 3 CCD's.

Strengths:

optical sablization, instant stills pictures, having great still and video capability in one small package.

Weaknesses:

I am not sure it has the same resolution as a 3.2 mega pixel still camera, but it better than a 2 mega pixel still camera. The low light capability is supposed to be poor but inside pictures look fine without additional lighting.

Similar Products Used:

Toshiba 2 mega pixel, Minolta 304, Panasonic super VHS camcorder.

Customer Service:

The camera just came in a week ago.

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

Absolutely, the best camera at half the price! Almost 3X the pixel resolution of Sony whose pixel count is 380,000 cannon best is 410,000. Panasonic has 800,0000 pixels per CCD so times that by three... 3 megapixel stills anyone?

Strengths:

Many

Weaknesses:

none
