Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $450.00 from buydig.com

Summary:

Just recently, I tried plugging my camcorder into my computer via fire wire to stream the video, and burn it onto a DVD. However, it didn't work. I know its not a computer problem as I have tested it on multiple Windows XP systems, which carry the drivers out of the box. I tested my fire wire cable and it is working fine. That leaves me with the Camcorder. I have called Sharp support and all I get is that Sharp doesn't support their DV port.... which I find VERY odd as it is part of the camcorder! ---------------------------------------------------- I finally got Sharp to admit that the camera does come with a dv slot and firewire cable. But they still will not support the product. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA! They will not support their video out for burning onto DVD!!! Here is Sharps response to my email. -------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for contacting Sharp Electronics Corporation. You are able to transfer video, but we do not support it. There isn't any other additional information besides what we have provided that we can give you. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with this information.

Strengths:

Great form factor

Weaknesses:

Terrible support!! They do not support all the accessories that come with the camera! DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!

Similar Products Used:

Other models of Sharp like their swivel screen models.....NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE SHARP FOR A CAMCORDER

Customer Service:

TERRABLE! I pratically had an arguement over email as to what did and didn't ship with the camera.... They don't know their own products. They also don't support the features that are included.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $475.00 from Buydig.com

Summary:

Nice, compact little camera. I especially like the central pivot which makes it easy to hold at any angle. You can hold it at waste level and you don't have to twist your wrist into an unnatural position. The 2.5 inch screen is very bright too. Picture quality is fair, probably comparable with others in this category.

Strengths:

Pivot design, bright LCD, small size, built-in flash

Weaknesses:

Picture quality is not outstanding, battery can't be upgraded, camera on-screen controls are very difficult to navigate, flash is good only out to about 4-5 feet, no external mic input other than the one built for the hot shoe.
