$0.00 Summary: Reasonable performance overall, less impressive indoor footage, good video quality outside in natural light, but during the night you can encounter problems depending on the light you have on the subject; automatic focus a bit problem, again in low light where is struggling, the reasons being probably low-average components (lens, CCD etc.); good automatic/manual exposure; the white balance is working resonable but manual white balance would be desirable (Sony is thinking this is consumer level and on the presets this camera has it is not necessary); a bit heavy but on the other hand it prevents too much shaking; the lens cap is making noise when windy by hitting the camera body/I've changed with a longer rope, no problem any more.
In principle it is worthy to apply for top end Strengths: These are not necessarily strenghts but positive aspects, meaning there is enough room for improvement:
- video quality in good light;
- exposure (manual & automatic)
- shutter speed adequate, good margin
- very good sound;
- optical zoom, limited however probably by the medium quality of the lens;
- good editing facilities;
- compatibility with older 8mm;
- analog/digital conversion; Weaknesses: - poor performance indoor or in artificial light;
- bottom loading mechanism;
- digital zoom, useless; I am curios to know what is the use of this?!
- poor CCD
- DV in not active Similar Products Used: This is the first video camera. Not very impressed, I would rather trade it for a good mini DV model. Better check twice before buy!
