Strengths: All the Above
Lots of features for the $$$
Weaknesses: Could use a higher Pixel count ccd and 1/4" instead of the 1/6 I believe it has.
Low Resolution Still
Bottom Line:
This is a decent camera for outdoor shooting using AUTO.
Same Digital quality as MiniDv.
Manual controls
I feel that these D8 models are a bit bulky than smaller MiniDV but much more durable (internal parts). I feel the mechanism seems more durable than those tiny parts in the smaller cams.
Indoor picture with proper lighting is aceptable and with manual control of Exposure and shuter speed good quality is achievable. The Auto seting is ok for bright locaions, but night and indoor poor lit areas picture becomes grainy (Again correcting the Exposure to appropriet settings will correct the picture. Auto bumps Exposure All the way up in poor lit conditions.
Not a bad camera at all it's even got Analog in/out
DV in/out.
Mic in
Headphone jack
Play old 8 - Hi8 tapes
Transcodes analog directly to DV through Firewire (neat).
USB - Digital Still Memory stick
