Strengths:    Price, quality of video, ease of use, features galore, uses 8mm tapes.

Weaknesses:    Still pictures-if you want more get a digital still camera. Otherwise none really.

Bottom Line:   
For the money this camera is awsome. It is digital, plays 8mm tapes and is backward compatible so I can play my old 8mm tapes in it. It takes a great video picture. The still picture capability is lacking but anyone who knows anything about digital photography would know that right away with the pixel quality it has. The only reason to pay more for a digital 8 camera is the still picture quality.
