Review 1 of 11

Price Paid:  $330.00 from Singapore

Summary:

Very tiny! Fits in any pocket. Same size as a pack of cigarretes, so you can take it almost anyware. The subsea housing is just fine. I made lots of amazing diving shots. Battery life is ok even with LCD on, but it does not indicate how much is left... Stainless steel case is pretty and tough. Very nice to working trips and daily use... anyware... Lots of features, but still very simple and intuitive to use. Good flash photos.

Strengths:

Size, battery life, long exposure for dark shots.

Weaknesses:

Optic zoom 2x is too limited. Batery only warns when almost dead, so if you travel, need extra batt. 8Mb is too little. Buy more CF card. Only records 7s of continuous video, then locks for seconds, even if a 256Mb CF is free.

Sony Cybershot P-30

Customer Service:

Not used.

Review 2 of 11

Price Paid:  $370.00 from Nikon Shop, IN Phnom

Summary:

I already owned a Nikon Coolpix 880 when I decided to purchase the Cannon Ixus V2 (which I believe to be the same model as the S200). The Coolpix 800 (which is a superb 3.2 megapixel camera) is a bit too bulky for some occasions. I therefore wanted something compact that would also provide excellent photographs and user-friendly functionality. Even though this is only a 2 megapixel camera, the results are spectacular and the functionality is hard to beat. And, as I knew from the start, the camera is incredibly compact. One of the nicest features of this camera is its panoramic capabilities (which relies on the PC-based "stitching" software that comes with the camera). I took several sequences to generate several "panoramic" views of the spectacular Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia, and printed them on Epson premium high gloss photo quality paper using an Epson 780, and the results are marvelous. I highly recommend this camera.

Strengths:

Size Color balance Functionality

Weaknesses:

Only 2 megapixels

Review 3 of 11

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Circuit City

Summary:

I did my homework and researched/shopped around for my first digiStill cam -- Haven't regretted this purchase for an instance -- I just love this thing -- it's totally convenient to carry around -- I'm very into available light photography -- the manual settings on this little thing are so intuitive to use and change -- using common photo terms, (asa, exposure +-,) and great long-term exposure flexiblity kicks ass! (I believe anywhere from 1 sec to 15 sec. in fine increments)I love artsy blurry ghost images etc. I would always use the "B" setting on my SLR's and my oldschool rangefinders, so these longer exposure features let me get the same effects. I took it out New Year's eve and got some fantastic party pics ... and when you want to use the flash there's a great feature where the S200 fires a little light like a flash light to help its autofocus -- well it works out that little beam of light acts like a laser gun sight beam -- so you don't even have to even be looking at the LCD or view finder to aim your Elph. I have the cheapest plastic Elph LT and still use it, I was using it up until I purchased the S200 - I travelled to Asia with it as my only still camera ( I also took a vid. cam) -- and got the most amazing stuff with it --- this digital version blows me a away ! Can U say VERITE ? Can't wait for my next trip, gotta stock up on memory cards

Strengths:

Manual features exposure control intuitive ability to completely turn of lcd (those things are pretty bright at concerts !) uses the cheaper and higher capacity Compact Flash cards ruggedness video function rox

Weaknesses:

Only 2megs pixels -- but I hear that the more megpixels the longer the lag (S300 ??) this Elphs's lag seems acceptable (noting I don't use flash that much) No battery life indicator (it just gives one warning light -- and quits whenever)

Similar Products Used:

higher end Nikon coolpixs trad. motion picture and still film cameras (medium format to APS to Super8 to S16mm)

Customer Service:

bought the Extended warrantee, good deal on that, from the researchin' around I did

Review 4 of 11

Price Paid:  $230.00 from ebay

Summary:

I have been an amateur photographer for 10 years and have owned various SLRs. So I bought this camera more for fun than for serious photography. It is excellent for what I bought it for. Takes great quality digital images and movies with audio. Also very small so you can bring it with you to parties or events. It has manual features but if you really want quality images, you should be using a 35mm SLR. This camera was not maid for professional quality images.

Strengths:

Compact, easy to use, canon brand, stitch feature for panoramic shots, manual features.

Weaknesses:

no major problems. if you are shopping for quality digital images, go for a higher resolution. but in my opinion, this is the best 2MP on the market (and cheaper than the S300 where the only difference is the zoom)
