Summary: For it's generation, the Epson PhotoPC 600 was a good camera. Comparable to the Oly DL-340, this camera is very point and shoot with little manual options. Outdoor shots are pretty bright with good color representation, but indoors, the flash was too bright at times, but has a rapid fall off zone. Fairly slow processing. Images printed out to maybe 3.5x5 inches were good, but above that, you're looking for pixels. This camera's niche is as a web and screen image producing camera, and in that niche it performs well. I've taken about 10000 images with it in 2 years (enough to fill a couple of CD-Rs), and overall the experience has been great. If you can find this camera today for under $300, it's a good deal. Lastly, it takes superb black and white photos - very crisp, and frankly better than just taking a color image and converting it. Strengths: Great screen, very bright and fast - no ghosting. Controls are easy to use and figure out. Includes both 4mb internal memory and takes compact flash cards. Compact size is a bonus. Includes 4 NiMH with a rapid charger, Epson was the forunner in including batteries with their cameras. Weaknesses: Terrible at florescent light pictures. JPG compression and artefacts are too much, even at the highest mode setting. Only one white balance setting (auto), and not too smart at times. Quirky auto focus. Similar Products Used: Olympus D-500, Olympus C-2000Z Customer Service: Didn't try.
