Summary:

I bought the 750Z about 6 months ago, upgrading from the photopc 600. This is a great camera that has enough bells and whistles to satisfy even the serious photographer, yet can be used in full auto mode which does an execellent job on almost every situation. 3 months after I purchased the camera I dropped it from about 6 feet onto hard pavement. $400 down the tubes. So I decided to upgrade and get the 850Z When it arrived the first thing I noticed is the 850 is every bit as big as a full sized 35mm SLR camera. It took better shots but it was so big I returned it and got another 750Z. I couldn't be happier. It's a great camera with an excellent warranty from Epson. Highly recommended.

Strengths:

Very easy to use Excellent pictures with good flesh tones many bells and whistles quick recycle time between shots batteries recharge quickly and last a very long time even using the flash

Weaknesses:

Slow to download pix via serial cable suggest you buy a usb reader to download

Similar Products Used:

Used the 850Z and it takes excellent pix but is large and bulky.

Customer Service:

It doesn't get any better than this. My first epson broke (my fault) called Epson, they paid postage via fedx both ways, camera was picked up at my house and was returned to me 4 days later looking better than new. Cudos to Epson and their tech support

Summary:

Outstanding camera for the price. Great for taking outdoor pictures, great for sporting events and long trips. Also very useful in learning photography skills for the inexperienced users.

Strengths:

The included accessories make this an even better bargain. Battery charger, batteries, interface cable and spacious carrying case are all durable and add to the value of this camera. This camera, when used with the PC software, offers great editing and enhancement opportunities.

Weaknesses:

Very little negative about this camera. Third digital camera I have used, and this one, by far, offers the best photos and capabilities with the most ease of use.

Kodak DC

Review 4 of 46

Summary:

I have just ordered the Epson 3000 camera as a high-end companion to my 750Z. After using a number of other models, I decided to stick with Epson and sell the rest on eBay. I use a laptop so the compact flash card makes swapping pictures easy and fast. As a power digital user, I would recommend this camera over any other model for the first-time and intermediate user. You can take a week long trip and shoot 100+ photos on a single set of batteries and a 48MB flash card.

Strengths:

Compact flash card format and long battery life are major pluses for a heavy photo user like myself. Camera is almost idiot proof in auto mode and produces excellent photos in high res mode. Very good in combination with Epson photo printer, even to 8x10.

Weaknesses:

I find that I have to use a Photo editor like MicroGrafx Picture Publisher to really bring out the best in the photos. The HyPict mode is fine if you have alot of time to compose your shot and don't need quick response.

Similar Products Used:

Sony Mavica, all models. Canon, most models. Olympus, most models.

Customer Service:

Had the camera go dead on the autofocus 2 days before family vacation in another state. Epson FedEx'd a brand new camera to a store within 5 minutes of our destination. Flawless service and support from my point of view.

Review 5 of 46

Summary:

If you're trying to decide which camera to buy (assuming you've already wrestled with the BIG question: What am I going to use a digital camera for?) then this one is head, shoulders and shoelaces above its peers in the 1 megapixel category. The camera offers a lot of features that others in it's class doesn't. For instance, you can control the ISO (rough equivalent of film speed) to accomodate different light levels. I do machinery and equipoment appraisal work and often find myself in shut down plants where power has been turned off. The ability to "juice" the camera a little to save me the trouble of too much adjustment of the image in the computer is a big help. I would rate the clairity of images as excellent and the optics are comparable to any high end camera out there. The software is easy to intuitively use and I especially like the stitching program Epson has selected to distribute. It's easy to use and very forgiving for those of us who may not be exactly accurate in overlapping our exposures by one third of a frame. The 750Z also has Hipict technology which interpolates a 2 megapixel shot (1600 x 1200) out of its 1280 x 960 pixel dimension high. A terrific way to have the capability of shooting 2 megapixel exposures at the 1 megapixel price. Finally, the best feature is what you get for the money. The 750Z comes with a carrying case, Video out patch cord AND battery charger AND batteries (something everyone else makes you pay for). Other accessories like AC adapter, lens kits, etc. are all available via third party vendor. Now that the 3-megapixel cameras are charging hard out of the gate, the venerable 750Z is being blown out of inventory. This is an excellent camera with more high end features than nearly all others packaged in a "point and shoot," easy to use platform.

Strengths:

Quality of exposure Excellent software included Case, recharger and batteries included HyPict technology results in 2 megapixel like exposures

Weaknesses:

Manual lens cap The design has a sharp angle on the left side. Clearly somebody's attempt at "jazzy" but would have been better squared off like the rest of the pack for a little better left hand grip. The 3x optical is a little slow in responding to the control, "zoom in and out" button.

Similar Products Used:

I have had two Casios over the past three years (640 x 480 cameras) There is no comparison in picture quality as the Epson beats them hands down in the 640 x 480 pixel dimension realm.

Customer Service:

I haven't had one problem with the Epson where I'd need customer service
