Price Paid:  $499.00 from Sears

Summary:

This was given as a gift to myself for Christmas. The camera was just on the store shelves, the price was not great, but have had the camera since it was marketed to the public. Have had no problems with it at all. Still the only digital camera I own. Presently have no plans to buy another at this time unless something were to happen. I would recommend this camera for the person wanting a good quality camera with features that are easy to use and understand, and wants to get ito digital photo taking as a hobby.

Strengths:

Easy of use. Compact design.

Weaknesses:

Software for image gathering could be better. Other software available today works well. No zoom features on lens.

Similar Products Used:

None

Customer Service:

Never Used, had no reason to. Camera and software easy enought for 7 year old to`operate.

Review 2 of 17

Summary:

As I stand on the threshold of upgrading, probably to a Canon Sureshot s10, I cannot resist this opportunity to say how much fun I have had with this little camera. Despite it's obvious limitations, especially in the light of more recent digital cameras, I have become firmly addicted to the advantages and convenience of digital photography. My biggest problem in selecting an upgrade, has been to find something which is as useable in ordinary situations. I must say, I think it would make an excellent second-hand choice for a a beginner who wants a VGA camera to kick off with... However, I suspect that I will be hanging on to mine to use at parties, etc... It's current commercial value as at June 2000 would be so little compared to it's usefulness in these situations... It has been a good freind, cheap and cheerful, and enormous fun.

Strengths:

In fine mode, the DX7 is easily good enough for printing accepatble postcard sized snapshots, or emailing images to freinds. Web page builders will also find it a useful tool. The images produced generally look good on screen. Despite it's unashamedly low-rent appearance, it has proved to be reasonably robust.

Weaknesses:

In normal mode, there is a certain amount of JPEG compression nastiness which is worth avoiding. Take care on renewing batteries, because it seems to default back to Normal mode. Use setup to reset to Fine mode.

Similar Products Used:

I have tried to help a freind with some awful Mustek VGA camera. This has made me realise just how useable the results from the DX7 can be.

Customer Service:

No problems, no experience.

Summary:

I have had my Fujifilm DX-7 for a year now and think it is still a good camera. I got a very good deal when I bought it and was suprised at the quality of the pictures. Easy to use, light in weight and very compact. Avoid reviewing the pictures on the LCD and the batteries will work much longer.

Summary:

I found the camera very fragile. The LCD screen quickly damaged, as did the battery lid. Fortunately, FUJI replaced the lid immediately. Also, transfer of pix from camera to pc is rather slow. Flash doesn't do much in the dark...
