Review 1 of 6

Price Paid:  $200.00 from best buy

Summary:

Without getting too technical, for those looking for a nice point and shoot for the family parties and portraits, keep looking. EVERYTHING you shoot indoors with this camera will be dark and virtually unusable. Getting acceptable exposures requires accessing the exposure compensation and ISO settings every time the camera is turned on. Extremely high battery consumption leads me to believe that HP has stock in Duracell. Reaction time is completely unacceptable - you'll lose those magic moments waiting for the flash to recharge. Deleting unwanted photos is slow and must be done one by one, rather than marking each and then deleting by batch. By contrast, my other digital is a Nikon Coolpix 4300. The only way to take a bad shot with that camera is to shoot with your finger over the shutter. Do yourself a favor and take a pass on the HP 735.

None

Review 2 of 6

Price Paid:  $145.00 from Best Buy

Summary:

This is a great buy for the "point & shoot" average person. I don't know why some complain of the indoor shots. I've taken pictures for the past 6 yrs of my bitter sweet chocolate lab dog, using both "hot shoe" flash on a standard 35mm film camera, and built in flash on auto 35mm camera. I could never get her to look "natural"...always blended into the background. With the 735, I got great pics of her, clear as could be. You will want the NiMh batteries and charger (about $50 at Wal-Mart for charger with 2 fast charge batteries and 4 additional overnite charge batteries.) Next, I'll probably buy the Minolta DiMAGE Z1, but I really do like the HP, especially for my non-technically oriented wife.

Strengths:

Inexpensive, good solid feel, great Pentax glass lens, super macro, super buy for the bucks!

Weaknesses:

Haven't found a great many considering the price tag of the camera.

Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $300.00 from Adams Computers Pola

Summary:

Purchased the Photosmart 735 about a month ago and was pleased with the operation. It's good camera. Macro mode is very good. Indoor pirtures are good, but a little dark when using optical zoom. Landscape pictures are brilliant with spectacular sharpness, clarity and resolution.

Strengths:

Easy to use. Very good macro mode. Sharp and clear pictures.

Weaknesses:

Dark indoor pictures using zoom. Expensive memory cards (you need 128 MB)

Review 4 of 6

Price Paid:  $249.00 from Alternate (Netherlan

Summary:

Photo quality is good outdoors and average indoors (because there is no AF-assist lamp, hard to focus sometimes) White balance works pretty good (never need to select manually outdoors) Macro mode is very good. visit www.pd-photo.tk for example pictures (resized to 1024 x 768) or http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/hp735.html for a review of this camera

Strengths:

Again excellent macro photo's (check webpage for some examples) Some manual controls (aperture 2x) (white balance) nice nightshot though with hot pixels (bright dots appear on image)

Weaknesses:

Hot pixels at long exposure times some distortion on images (especially on bright blue sky) scrolling when zoomed in is little hard to get used to.

Review 5 of 6

Price Paid:  $289.00 from mycom shop

Summary:

Good camera, low battery consumption! I made 135 pics and 1 movie with lcd-screen on constantly using 1700mah batteries of a cheap brand! Clear sharp pictures, bright colors. User friendly because some frequent used fuction can be found as buttons on the camera. Metal body, nice solid, better than plastic. Videorecording gives good smooth results in almost VHS quality. advice: use 128mb memory card or more. Flash function gives good results too, indoor pics turn out ok.

Strengths:

value for money!

Weaknesses:

no resolution in the 1.3 or 2.0 megapixel range (only 640x480 and 2080x1550)
