Review 1 of 15

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

Camera is nice. But the software blew the whole deal. Won't transfer the pictures. Tried all of there self help. No luck. They even have you download a program to remove the the Easy Share software. It doesn't work either. Sat on the phone for 1hr 52 minutes with Tech Support then they hung up. It really is the crappiest software I have seen in years of computing. I can't even remove the program. It won't uninstall unless it completely installs. When you try to remove it. It trys to reinstall. I'm sure when it works it probably works good, but if it doesn't it a total nightmare and Kodak doesn't want thing to do with you.

Strengths:

Camera picture quality is excellent. Easy to use.

Weaknesses:

Software

Review 3 of 15

Price Paid:  $329.00 from Circuit City

Summary:

This camera takes some awesome pictures. It has good ease of use. It can be frustrating when taking pictues in the evening/night time when there is low lighting. I do not know how to adjust the manual settings to make the pictures come out right, but other than that, the pictures always come out very nice. I've use the camera for 1 year now, and I am shopping around for a new one already for various reasons. First, I want a smaller, more compact camera. Second, the quality of the casing is very poor....the battery door and memory card door are very flimsy and can break easily. My battery door is damaged (not sure how because I don't remember dropping it), but it still closes. Also, I connected a 3V power adapter to it (to save the battery life) and somehow the camera completely stopped working all of a sudden. It wouldn't turn on...nothing. I've used the adapter for several months with no problem. My sister has the same camera and it did the same thing to her camera. Maybe it's just the adapter, but I don't want to risk it happening again so I am going to get a new camera after doing some more research on the newest ones available.

Strengths:

Great picture quality, ease of use, user friendly, very clear LCD screen. I sometimes have problems transferring pictures to the Kodak EasyShare software.

Weaknesses:

Could be a little smaller and lighter weight. Poor casing construction (can crack or break if you are not very gentle with it); quick battery drainage with the LCD screen on (as with just about any digital camera)....I recommend the CRV3 batteries for this camera...pricey, but has a longer life.

Review 4 of 15

Price Paid:  $360.00 from Superstore (CDN doll

Summary:

We were looking for a digital camera to replace our aging Canon AE1 film camera. We were looking in the 3-4 megapixel range. It's an easy to use camera, but you don't have control over the amount of compression used in the images. In some cases, the compression is a bit too harsh and the images look a tad blotchy. The Canon A70 does take slightly better pictures, with more accurate colour saturation and slightly better sharpness, but the Kodak is much easier to use. We also bought a 256Mb SD card and rechargeable NiMH AA-sized batteries, and a card reader. I opted to not install Kodak's software since I can download the images readily using the card reader.

Strengths:

- Easy to use - Good pictures in most light settings, both indoor and out - 4x optical zoom - long battery life - excellent, bright LCD viewer

Weaknesses:

- images could be sharper - no control over JPEG compression level - flash occasionally weak

Similar Products Used:

Canon A70, Sony DSP50, Canon Powershot S40. Also used Canon Powershot G3, Nikon Coolpix 5700, Sony DSC-F707

Customer Service:

E-mail response within 24h.
