Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $420.00 from Henry's

Summary:

GREAT camera, period. Bought it for a companion to our Nikon SLR (which we use for more "serious"/proffesional photography)- for fun, snapshots around the house, office needs, and discreet size. Camera far surpassed expectations. Very user friendly, many, functional, usefull scene modes. Excellent macro, good zoom (for size), and very, very discreet, fits in pocket, and if you shut of the volume and "welcome" sound it is silent- and the batteries last longer!

Strengths:

Excellent picture quality. Compact, discreet (with swivel can shoot from hip, eye level, sideways, backwards, whatever...). Functional. Nice Style. Charger/docking station included. If you can still find one, should be super cheap now- and you shoudl get it.

Weaknesses:

Battery life; spec's are honest and only give it an hour- under normal use eth battery will give you about 8 to 12 hours though. Need second battery if you are travelling though- and carefull eth made in China ones do not last as long as the made in Japan one that came with the camera- maybe 4 to 8 hours at best, brand new! After a year the door and clip for the battery broke.

Similar Products Used:

Fuji Fine Pix, Canon and Sony (can't recall models).

Customer Service:

Excellent, but I wonder if Henry's had more to do with this than Nikon. Kind of iritating that they did fix the problems (and replaced our LCD screen which was probably not warranty related), but noted on the reciept that Henry's covered it as a customer courtesy- not sure if Nikon actually didn't cover it,or Henry's is trying to make themselves look good.

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $0.00 from local discounter

Summary:

I bought this camera a month ago mainly to get quick and easy internet-ready pictures. It is good looking, fun to use and small enough to take it with you. On the other hand pictures are noisy and tend to be unusable on higher iso settings. Build quality is ok and it seems to be reasonable solid. Lens is ok too, just some light distortion at the wide end (not really noticeable).

Strengths:

easy to use small and slim nice design bundled adobe photoshop elements 2 lots of features

Weaknesses:

noisy images slow AF nikonView software is a desaster

Similar Products Used:

no, this is my first digital

Customer Service:

Review 4 of 5

Price Paid:  $365.00 from ClickforDigital.com

Summary:

This camera was a costly mistake. It proved to be a very fragile camera for a consumer grade model. I would not recommend buying this camera if your intent is to carry a camera around with you and give it a fair bit of use. In this case the camera was dropped approximately 12", enough to void the Nikon warranty and cost another $180+ to repair.

Strengths:

Snazzy camera w/ great features and easy to use. Love the Cool-pix swivel and the way it leads to creative photography.

Weaknesses:

Too fragile for a consumer grade camera. This camera didn't hold up to normal wear and tear and was not backed up by the Nikon limited warranty. Picture quality was fair at best.

Similar Products Used:

Early Nikon Coolpix Olympus C-3000

Customer Service:

Service was good. Warranty was garbage.

Summary:

I love this camera! I recieved it as a gift and Ive been enjoying it ever since. The cameras functions are very straight foward, and easy to use. Great for first time digital camera users like me!

Strengths:

The lens rotate so u can take self pictures, and its very versatile to carry around and about. Also do to its petite size and slim shape its not a hassle to toss this camera in your purse.

Weaknesses:

The green light flash can be a bit eye blinding at times...
