Review 1 of 121

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

For a little point-and-shoot digital, you''re getting a pretty decent piece of equipment in the D340R. It''s a good camera to start in to digital, especially if you''ve only used point-and-shoot film cameras in the past. If you''re looking for something for everyday photos - meaning you basically make photos to document your life - then this one''s quite good.

Strengths:

Decent resolution for the money.

Weaknesses:

Serial connection is far too slow.

Review 2 of 121

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Office depot

Summary:

Appears to be a fine camera when working, I have had the camera for nearly two years and found it to produce reasonable pictures but complicated to use.Now all of a sudden stopped working and will not power up. Customer support was totally un helpful and at the price I paid this should not have happened.I have found via the web other owners reporting the same problem. My recommendation is not to buy this camera since it cannot be relied upon from my experience to last. Others are out there just as good for half the price and its the last Olympus I buy.

Strengths:

Picture quality.

Weaknesses:

Reliability and complicated to use. Its a gamble with others reporting the same problem.

Similar Products Used:

None

Customer Service:

Very poor just stated send it in ?

Review 3 of 121

Summary:

If you take the time to learn how to take photographs, this camera will take great photographs. I bought re-chargeable batteries (2 sets of four, so one set is always charged), have taken several thousand photos in 18 months and have not had to replace the batteries (Nexcell nickel metal hydride). It takes a lot of time and thought to learn the ins and outs of any camera. I only use the camera for web work or saving on floppies - never printed a photo and never plan to.

Strengths:

Takes excellent photos. Yellowing is NOT a problem if you know how to take photos. Pay attention to the light.

Weaknesses:

The manual.

Similar Products Used:

None

Customer Service:

Excellent telephone help.

Review 5 of 121

Summary:

I've had this camera for over a year and to be very honest, I'm very disappointed with the quality of this Olympus. The quality is adequate, at best compared to regular film cameras. If you're thinking of going digital, don't get this camera. Spend a little more for a 2-3M pixel camera.

Strengths:

Easy to use

Weaknesses:

Bulky, Heavy. Sent it for repair, twice!!! Same reason both times. The sucker just died.

Similar Products Used:

Canon Powershot, Epson, Higher model Olympus' digitals.

Customer Service:

For the 2 times I sent it for repair, they were fine. The repaired it for the the second time (even though it was out of warranty) for free.
