Review 1 of 73

Price Paid:  $45.00 from Ebay

Summary:

What a camera! Just $45 plus postage and I got myself a little gem and a real piece of digital photographic history. It came with a load of 128mb Smart Media cards and a 1GB CF card and is in perfect as new condition. It is a bit slow compared to a very modern camera but the results are outstanding and it is only 2.5MP! A perfect buy for a beginner who wants the closest thing to a DSLR at a fraction of the price and image quality and colour rendition better than most.

Strengths:

Strong but light weight build.
Excellent IQ
Dual memory card slots.
Good Flash
High Flash Sync Speed

Weaknesses:

Now antique and low in overall specification
SM cards now almost unobtainable

Price Paid:  $750.00 from Focus Camera

Summary:

This is an excellent camera for Freelance photographers. The news paper editor love this type of work. Easy to use, sharp pictures.

Strengths:

Very good print quality. For the Best results use a Photo Printer and good quality paper.

Weaknesses:

No battery pack. I carry at least 4 sets of batteries. You have to use rechargeable or you will end up paying more for batteries than the camera.

Customer Service:

Never needed to use.

Review 3 of 73

Summary:

This was my first major use of a digital camera, and I'll admit that I still prefer my steadfast 35mm. But this at least has me beginning to lean the other way. I take pictures of high school sports as part of my job, and I've gotten some great shots with this. The problem, though, is the zoom. I was used to a 300mm zoom, and even with the teleconverter we were getting just 147mm with this. Speaking of the teleconverter, I urge you not to rely on this too much. There is a reason why Olympus made it free - they were tired of replacing the item after it fell off the front of the camera. Mine fell off four times before it finally self destructed. The first time there was a little bump, but after that it just fell off. When it finally broke, I would not even have noticed had I not kicked it.

Strengths:

Good color, good quality, fast lens

Weaknesses:

Teleconverter will not stay on camera

Review 4 of 73

Summary:

Having used this camera in journalism for a year has proved that digital can work. The camera is not light in weight but its weight does give it a lot of stability and a good feel. It is a pretty good approximation for the feel of a real camera. The fast turnaround time and the ability to handle the images with Photoshop is also a plus that can make so photos can be out the day they are shot. This is a great camera!!

Strengths:

*fast reaction time *feel of an SLR *good internal flash *good battery life *excellent program mode *pretty good in low light

Weaknesses:

*image quality problems in certain shooting circumstances *uneasy to use manual setting
