Review 1 of 90

Price Paid:  $109.00 from www.half.com

Summary:

This is my 8th or 9th Digital Camera. I've been using mainly my Olympus 2100UZ 2.1 MP camera for a couple of years and picked this one up for $109 shipping and all at www.half.com. This is a neat little camera that takes excellent photos for a 1.3 MP's. I picked up a little pouch I can wear on my belt and a 64 MB SM card which allows me to take around 293 photos in HQ mode. I already had a SM card reader which is the only way to go. Plus I have several sets of Nimh batts and a Maha smart charger again rechargeable Nimh batt's are the only way to go. These outdated cameras can be found at super deal prices if you shop around as everyone has gone MP crazy. I don't really need more than 1.3 MP for sending photos to friends and relatives and it will print excellent photos up to 5x7's.

Strengths:

Compact, sliding lens cover, takes excellent photos, high capicity with 64 MB card and can be found refurbished at super low prices. Check out my website for more info on Digital Cameras and example photo's. http://www.angelfire.com/ar/thecameranutjwb/

Weaknesses:

Serial download which is very slow but pick up you a USB SM Card reader at www.newegg.com for about $20 bucks and a set of Nimh batts and charger at Wally World or Radio shack and your in business. P.S. You can get a Generic 64 MB SM card at newegg also for around $27 shipping and all.

Too many to mention.

Customer Service:

Never had to use Oly as of yet... :o)

Review 2 of 90

Price Paid:  $375.00 from Sam''s Club

Summary:

I bought this camera because of the good reviews and because of it''s small size. It looks like it''s well engineered and I know Olympus makes a good SLR. The battery life was very poor and it takes too long to upload pictures to the computer. I returned it to the store after a couple days and exchanged it for a Kodak DC280 and have been happy ever since.

Strengths:

Small, compact body makes it a handy point and shoot camera. OK picture quality.

Weaknesses:

No USB interface for fast uploads. No rechargeable batterys with charger included with camera.

Similar Products Used:

Kodak DC280

Customer Service:

Never used.

Review 3 of 90

Summary:

We bought this camera refurbished on eBay. It came with a 8MB smart card (which we upgraded), and has thus far been a very reliable camera. We have been pleased with its pictures and performance. Easy downloads (although you will want to get the AC adapter, so you don't have to eat up so many batteries), nice software, and quality photos. It's a perfect camera for a beginner. Nice resolution

Strengths:

Easy to use, easy to download, easy overall.

Weaknesses:

We upgraded to a 64MB smart card from the 8MB which was included. Well worth the 35.00. Also, get the AC adapter, because the download eats batteries. The LCD screen is slow to load pictures.

Similar Products Used:

Just some cheap 640x480 cams, this is way better

Customer Service:

Haven't had to try them

Review 4 of 90

Summary:

I just discovered that if I take the smart media card to The Camera Shop and have them develop them on photographic paper, they look like postcards. They are as good as any picutures I have ever taken with an slr. This camera takes great pics indoors or out.

Strengths:

It is small enough to take anywhere, while still being large enough to give you high quality images.

Weaknesses:

Only one I can see is that the battery indicator does not tell you when the batteries are getting weak. It has 2 positions-fully charged, and dead. And dead comes on all or a sudden.

Customer Service:

Never needed any.

Summary:

The D-450z is an excellent camera for the beginner and is an inexpensive way to introduce one self to the film-less world. I have had this camera for almost one year and have out grown it already. I'm a fast hands-on learner. It has thought me numerous things I could not get out of a book. I really like Olympus and I have my eye on the Olympus C-2100uz for my next Digi-camera.

Strengths:

Well thought out design, Simple menu, Easy to use, Rechargeable AA batteries, Reasonable price, A joy to begin with, Many similarities presents ease of up grading.

Weaknesses:

No remote control, Delay time between the shutter button and the actual photo taken presents a difficulty anticipating a shot.

Similar Products Used:

To numerous to tell.
