Review 1 of 22

Price Paid:  $200.00 from OfficeMax

Summary:

Bought CDS 6300 new about 3 years ago. Good price / features at the time. Worked okay at first. Then started haveing the issue with the battery cover door. The more you changed the batteries, the more the door breaks up! Rubber bands can only do so much to help!

Strengths:

Fair picture quality. Looks and feels a bit like a 35mm SLR.

Weaknesses:

Overall a piece of electronic junk. Biggest problem is that the battery cover door WILL disintegrate no matter how carefule you are. Poor battery life. LCD unuseable in sunlight. cheap overall construction.

Similar Products Used:

Several digital cameras owned by other people.

Customer Service:

Non existant! Emailed and called RCA. Can not or will not replace the battery cover door. Will only "exchange" the camera.........for $149.00!!!!! Forget it. Will never buy or recommend any RCA product with this type of "service". DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA FOR ANY REASON!!!!!

Price Paid:  $200.00 from RCA online employee

Summary:

Same problem as everyone else, battery door failure. I'm sorry to say I work for RCA-Thomson and bought two of these thru employee online store. Cheap foreign made trash, inferior materials.

Strengths:

Feels good in your hand, just right for that long toss out the window.

Weaknesses:

Poor materials, can't see lcd screen in sunlight.

Customer Service:

I can't get no satis..., I work for these people but I won't buy any more of their products, sad to say!

Review 3 of 22

Price Paid:  $199.00 from OfficeMax Nov. 2001

Summary:

General problems as other reviewers stated. On top of that the pictures taken under bright sun light (like sunny day on a beach) are always over exposure. I haven't figured out an adjustment to compensate this. Take good pictures indoor.

Price Paid:  $199.00 from Radio Shack

Summary:

I have had the same problem with this camera(RCA6300)as the other people who have sent in reviews. Not only is the battery cover broke. Try the side door has also fallen off. This whole camera is slowly disolving in my hands. If you see it on E-BAY. Run the other way. The things pure grade A junk

Review 5 of 22

Price Paid:  $199.00 from Office Max

Summary:

This camera seemed to be the Best Deal Out There when I first saw it advertised in Office Max's newspaper add. But when I actually tried to buy one, the guy told me that they were not being made anymore so Office Max was just tring to get rid of them. I had to go to about ten different Office Max stores before I finally found one. I felt really luckey to have one because Office Max said that their original price was $399. Though the longer I used it, the more and more problems I found until the finally, the problem that everyone who has ever owned this camera has already encountered or soon will, the battery cover will no longer lock and the camera is usless. I still use it every day though, it makes a FINE paper weight if you know what I mean!!! I you ever see anyone tring to sell this camera stay away and give me their name so I can slap them!

Strengths:

-comfortable feel -easy to use -good picture quality (with optical zoom only!) -came with lots of accessories -price

Weaknesses:

-low battery life (if you can even get them to stay in that is, of course!!) -bad digital zoom -impossible to see LCD in daylight -Unpredictable flash

Similar Products Used:

Fuji Finepix 2.3 maga pixil

Customer Service:

they can kiss my A$$
