Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $499.00 from Sharper Image

Summary:

Camera is definetly portable and feature packed. The Best Shot mode is very helpful in maximizing results with minimal efort. Camera's that get carried around get used, this one will get used alot.

Strengths:

Small size. Adjustable flash. Best Shot feature.

Weaknesses:

Reliabilty. My camera required 4 trips to the service department for "lens error" issues. Casio's techincal department isn't all that techincal.

Customer Service:

You call and get permission to send it in, when they repair it they return it via 1 week ground ups.

Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $500.00 from Arabia

Summary:

Cosmetics excellent. List of features is outstanding. Photographic quality: worst camera I have ever owned.

Weaknesses:

Flash unreliable and mostly produces unusable portraits. Autofocus unreliable. Agressive noise reduction destroys fine detail-frequently turns dark hair into blurry blob. Pictures that are well focused in bright sunlight sometimes are usable. Images are of extremely low quality sharpness.

Similar Products Used:

Sony Dsc-707 an outstanding camera. Olympus E100-RS an outstanding camera.

Review 4 of 5

Price Paid:  $566.00 from Walmart

Summary:

Moving from a Kodak DC-280 of 2.1 megapixel to this 4.13 megapixel ultra compact and ultra cool camera was no problem at all the pictures are quite outstanding I print 8x10's out of a fairly decent HP printer through Photoshop and the quality of the prints is really impressive, the camera is loaded with features that are plenty for a beginner like myself and perhaps even an advanced photographer who wants a little back up camera, the build quality is superb and the manual very complet I strongly recommend this camera to whomever wants a very tiny, very portable camera that takes awsome pictures

Strengths:

Great pictures even when printed as 8x10's". Build quality (this camera is made to last). Very good manual. Mac and PC support.

Weaknesses:

Shutter to close to the power button. Charger could be smaller and have collapsible prongs like the ones on many cell phone chargers. Bundled software is a little weak.

Kodak DC-280

Review 5 of 5

Price Paid:  $450.00 from Singapore (Cathay Ph

Summary:

I was looking at the Canon S40 and this was highly recommended by my regular camera shop so I went along with the recommendation and have absolutely no regrets. The product exceeded my expectations, is small enough to bring anywhere and the quality of photos is outstanding. What was most outstanding for me was its performance under low light situations - indoors photos taken without a flash turn out better than photos taken with the flash.

Strengths:

+ excellent performance in for indoor shots without flash + quick startup and very fast 'shutter' release response time + neat compact size + solid, steel casing + battery life - could last 8-16 hours + excellent menu - easy to use

Weaknesses:

- door to battery chamber is plastic and flimsy. Difficult to remove at times. - does not support the 'Stitch' function offered by Canon - which allows multiple photos to be stitched together.

Similar Products Used:

Canon IXUS, Kodak Easyshare
