Review 1 of 6

Price Paid:  $200.00 from gateway

Summary:

While the DC-M-50 is not ideal for fast action sports photography since it is very slow, it is a great camera overall. The picture quality is excellent. Many other owners have complained about poor picture quality and I have no idea why they would say that. I am a professional photographer and in my professional opinion, the lens is as sharp as any of my professional film camera lenses costing upwards of $1000 or more.

Strengths:

extremely sharp lens, great price for the amount of megapixels this camera offers. Rather lightweight. Simply put it is a great little camera.

Weaknesses:

limited in that it is very slow in taking the picture. Not a good choice if you are looking to shoot fast action sports photography.

Similar Products Used:

Canon A330 compact digital camera

Customer Service:

no complaints at all. The longest I had to wait for customer service is 5 mins.

Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $250.00 from Gateway.com

Summary:

Absolutely terrible camera. My HPphotosmart 318 which is only 2MP takes much better photos. I'm terribly disappointed with Gateway's product. All the photos have too much red in them, no matter what you take, it will be saturated with red. difficult interface on the camera, poor quality LCD screen, annoying sounds the camera makes it impossible to use in a quiet setting without notice. Terrible Terrible product, please don't buy this camera. Save your money for anything but this piece of junk. Oh yeah, it will suck up full powered batteries in about 12 minutes. Piece of junk.

Strengths:

Very tough plastic construction. Survived me slamming it in the pavement after all my photos looked terrible and were ruined.

Weaknesses:

The whole camera sucks. Don't buy this piece of junk.

Review 4 of 6

Price Paid:  $250.00 from gateway

Summary:

While the time it takes from pushing the button until the time the camera takes the picture is unusually long, and is disconcerting to those who have not used it...this is a fantastic camera for the price...with 5 megapixels there is no need to zoom because you can zoom in processing...basic camera, great pictures, works well, little to complain about (get an extra set of batteries, though, just in case) also, this is also sold under the name Argus, but Gateway is a fine brand name, too.

Strengths:

5 megapixels, price, lots of features

Weaknesses:

have an extra set of the rechargeable batteries around, hold the button down for a full second and a half before picture will take

Similar Products Used:

several other digital camers

Customer Service:

none needed, but it is Gateway, so I expect no disappointments

Review 5 of 6

Price Paid:  $199.00 from Gateway

Summary:

Camera is very difficult to use. No easy way to delete a photo right after taking it. Takes blurry pictures 50% of time. Camera does not focus in low light. Longest shutter delay of any digital camera I've used. Camera software locked up twice when scrolling through menus on the first day of use. Had to remove batteries to reset camera.

Strengths:

5 Megapixel. Price.

Weaknesses:

Stated in Summary.

Similar Products Used:

Fuji 602Z. Codak and Canon digitals.

Customer Service:

slow. Got a defective camera's before receiving this "working" one.
