I own a DSC P10 since two years. Camera is ok for casual photographers.. Indoor photo quality not up to the mark. User guide is easy to understand.
Outdoor photos quality is good.
Strengths:
Outdoor photos comes in good quality
Weaknesses:
Indoor photos quality not up to the mark. Probably the flash is not powerful
Blurred, out of focus really bad pictures. The pictures come out blurry and have since the day I purchased this camera 3 months ago. For the short time I have had this camera, it has been in an authorized Sony service center for at least one month and still does not take clear pictures. My 2 mega pixel digital takes better pictures.
Strengths:
None.
Weaknesses:
Overpriced for what you get.
Blurry pictures.
Sony customer service should be re-named to no customer service.

Customer Service:
Customer Service at Sony is a joke. I have spoken to 3 different people there over the last 3 months and not one of them cared. I have to send the camera back to them, at my cost. I paid for a brand new camera and will end up with a reconditioned one that I still do not know will work.
I am not a big fan of Sony. So i investigated Canon, Sony and Fuji cameras. I went for P10 because of its small size and Sony reputation. It was a mistake. What good is the camera if the picture is not good. Five different people took about 150 pictures on this camera. Half of them turned out to be blurred. The focus seemed perfect for each of this as it clearly shows a green light stop after blinking. Most of the pictures we took were portraits and people were not moving. Flash takes all the time in the world to recharge. So you have to wait an awful amount of time between pictures. If you just took a 5MP picture it looks like you have to wait for ever to reload. Body is delicate so extended warranty is a must. This is the first electronic product i bought an ext. warrty. Focus for a long shot is totally screwed up. I stood in a parking lot taking pics. First moving car it was blurred as it should be but the pic was alright. Next moving car i took in a sports mode[fast shutter], the pic was not blurred but it was d*mn dark. Burst mode was useful only if the movement of the subject is slow.
Strengths:
Surely pocket size i tried it, Sony make, Easy to understand manual.
Weaknesses:
Blurred/Bad pictures, delicate body, Crapy sports/burst mode, dark far shots,
Bought it on boxing day. Gorgeous camera! I love Sony products. The camera is very easy to use, and I base this on being able to use the camera without using the owners manual. I purchased the extended warranty and suggest you do the same if available. Buy extra memory, 128 or 256. Get a good form fitting case to protect it. Wrist strap is USELESS! Every compact film camera comes with a neak strap, digital should also. Because of the weakness listed below I am considering changing this camera for the Canon S50 or Fuji F700
Strengths:
Easy to use, sharp pictures, and compact. The owners manual is very well done.
Weaknesses:
Indoor shots not very sharp. While this is common in compact cameras, the problem here is that the autofocus not very accurate in low light event with the illuminator. Very small and this might be a problem for someone with large hands like me. The power/av out/usb port have a common plastic cover which IS going to break. Its not well done, and will probably be expensive to replace. The wrist strap is USELESS! Every compact film camera comes with a neak strap, digitals should also. An external battery charger would have been nice. It is available as an accessory though.
First, I always buy Sony products, as I have found over time that they are always one step ahead of the competition in both quality and features. I have a Sony Vaio at the office and at home, a Sony Vaio laptop and a Sony 8mm camcorder. I had the Sony DSC-P5 digital camera. Unfortunately, one time I forgot to put the strap on my wrist while taking pictures and dropped it with the lens extended and the lens jammed. When I called the service center they said it could not be fixed. It was a great camera and took incredible pictures outside. However, it did a terrible job taking pictures inside in moderate to weak light. This P10 has really fixed that problem. However, this camera has a new problem (see below).
Strengths:
Incredible outside pictures. Very easy to use, yet has many, many features that you can access if you want to.
Weaknesses:
Biggest problem is that they went cheap on some component that refreshes the power for the next flash picture. So, after taking a flash picture, the screen goes dark for several seconds and you cannot do anything until it gets the power again. This did not happen on my Sony DCP-P5.
