Price Paid:  $249.00 from staples

Summary:
The SD500 is a easy camera to use. Learning curve is quick and results are excellent. Movies come out sharp and well lighted, even in low light. Transfer to computer is a snap and quite quick. A 1g sd card gives 192 shots at the highest resolution.

Strengths:
learning curve, lighting, color truness.

Weaknesses:
none that I know of.

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $200.00 from dell.com

Summary:
This is the perfect snapshot camera to go with you everywhere. It is almost to small but the way Canon laid out the controls and fit a 2" LCd is perfect. It fits in any pocket and is quick so it is a great camera to have for all of those spur of the moment shots. I use mine mostly for people and pet pictures. It produces high quality prints and is very easy to use. It is mostly full auto but does have some interesting features like the continous shooting mode (~2fps) which is great for the dogs. Overall if you want a very small camera to take anywhere, anytime this is the one.

Strengths:
Image quality
Speed for a P&S
Size

Weaknesses:
Battery life, but it's ok if you're not going to be away from the charger for too long.
Viewfinder but you'll tend to use the LCD anyway.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $320.00 from costco.com

Summary:
This is a very nice compact digital camera. It is my very first digital camera, so I really don't have anything to compare it to. The Canon SD500 is an ultra compact camera that takes excellent pictures, mainly because of it's 7.1 megapixels. I can't say enough how small this camera is; it's one of the few cameras you can actually carry comfortably in your pocket. As a beginner, this camera has been very user friendly, and only required a couple of hours of use for me to take really nice pics.
This camera takes excellent pictures indoors and outdoors. The 3x optical zoom is very helpful and for a camera this size it's as much zoom as your going get. If you need more zoom, your going to have to get a bigger camera.
Overall an excellent all around compact point and shoot camera.

Strengths:
Size: it's ultra compact, very small. Design: it's a beautiful camera, very clean lines, reminds me of an Audi. Image quality: beautiful pictures, 7.1megapixels. Very is easy to use for a newbie like myself.

Weaknesses:
Nighttime pictures aren't very good, external flash would really help.

Similar Products Used:
This is my first digital camera. Excellent camera for a first time user, very easy to use.

Customer Service:
I haven't had to use their customer service.
