Summary:
Did some research before I got this camera and many said it was one of the best ones in the price range. I would agree. Takes great pictures and has many features that you can adjust for different photos. The manual settings are great for a beginner like me experimenting with different shots.

Summary:
I bought this camera for times when i can't use my film camera any more. I think it meets and even exceeds all requirements for casual use like I am using it.

Strengths:
Good image quality, decent macro shots, fully manual option

Weaknesses:
Artifacts in image when using ISO1600

Summary:
I had high hopes for this camera, especially with the image stabilization feature. But the camera arrived with a faulty sensor that generated wildly overexposed images in all modes. I couldn't believe Canon let such a defective unit out the door.

Strengths:
Size, cost, image stabilization.

Weaknesses:
Poor quality control let a camera with a bad sensor get sold.

Customer Service:
Amazon took the item back, but tacked on some "promotion" charge that left me a few dollars short of the purchase price. I'm disputing this with them. I've had nothing but excellent service from Canon's customer support people, however. With the A570is, I simply didn't want to go through technical gyrations -- I just sent back the camera.
