Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $530.00 from ebay

Summary:
I bought this camera last May(2004) from a manufacture dealer in ebay. After use few times, we found out the functions were messed up. For example, when we tried to take a picture it went "display" function or "video recording". I was planning send it back to manufacture to repair, however, when we left it for few hours to try again, it was working fine again. This was the reason we didn't send it back to manufacture. It happened many times. As you know, we didn't bother to send it as We thought it should be ok after leave it for a while. Plus we don't use it very often(only for vacation and few product pictures. total add up about 7 times after we purhcase it). Our last use is this January 2005. After the vacation, we left it in the box for few months. This May, when we tried to use it again, we found out the function of this camera was totaly messed up and can never recover anymore. We tried to send it back to manufacture, manfacture told us it cost $300 to repair it as we had just passed the one year warranty.Seller also refuse to exchange. We spent $530 for this camera but only can use 7 times. Janpanese products is no longer reliable anymore as same things happen in our TV. We spend $5000 bought a Panasonic HD TV in 2001. We bought 3 year service contract at the same time. Right after the 3 years service contract passed, the TV is out of function. We called manufacture, they asked for $800 to repair the TV. Oh, my god, If I have choice, I will never buy Japanese products anymore as Japanese manufactures really know how to find a way to get your money.

Strengths:
no

Weaknesses:
shortest life in the world

Customer Service:
poor

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $600.00 from Arabia

Summary:
I own a Sony Dsc-707 and a Panasonic FZ-20, the Casio P-600 is an outstanding photographic machine. It has replaced the Olympus Stylus Epic I used as a pocket camera because of its extremely sharp pictures and features. I have found no problems at all with noise and the flash has been accurate and useful at short ranges.

Strengths:
You get excellent pictures using the dummy mode, but you have enormous power and flexibility should you desire. Autofocus extremely fast and accurate and almost zero shutter lag. How sharp is it? I used focusmagic to measure the the out of focus blur, it was only one pixel wide - amazing!

Weaknesses:
Not really, but one must remember to install the Casio software - which is excellent - in order to load pictures to your computer. The LCD screen is large but difficult to see in extremely bright sunlight. Since I live in Arabia, that is the only kind of sunlight that there is. Fortunately the optical viewfind is large, bright, and accurate.

Similar Products Used:
Sony Dsc-707 (Wonderful camera) and Panasonic FZ-20 (Especially wonderful for long telephoto shots and external flash shots.)

Customer Service:
No experience. Knock on wood.
