Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $240.00 from Panafoto, S.A.

Summary:

I think this camera is excellent as a multi-purpose camera to carry around and take pictures to include in a blog. That is what I use it for.

The photographs of buildings, people, landscapes, foliage are absolute great. I never thought I could get so much in such a little camera with a budget price.

In Auto mode, your pictures come out as if out of the hands of an experienced photographer. Most of my pictures are on Auto Mode. Of course you have the option of many other modes such as Aquarium, Fireworks, Landscape, Beaches, Indoors and so forth.

Pictures taken in low light are not that good, but that's not my line of work, so it doesn't bother me. The 6X zoom works flawlessly and I use in continuously for detailed photos of buildings or faces.

If you want to grow in photography there a many manual options which gives you more control of your pictures. I haven't reached that level yet. I'm very satisfied with this camera and would recommend it to newbies with an enthusiasm to grown in photography.

Strengths:

Easy to Use.
Small and light to carry around.
Buttons are well placed.
Manual features for more picture control.
Excellent zooming capacity.

Weaknesses:

Complicated manuals difficult to understand.
Battery consumption is on the high side. Suggest you buy rechargeable batteries to protect your pocket.
Optical viewfinder only lets you view 80 percent of the scene. It tend to fool you. After a while you get used to it.
Noise at high ISO levels, like above 800.
Difficult to take photograph with low light.

Customer Service:

I haven't used Canon's Customer Service Yet.

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $250.00 from Costco

Summary:

Great P&S Camera for bright and well lit environments. For the low-light it gets a little noisy and flash takes a while to start-up. But I really haven't done much of a low-light, indoor photography with this particular model. Mostly used it outside in manual mode.

Image Stabilization is a must. Had one w/o IS prior to this one and really can appreciate the difference.

Mostly use camera in Manual Mode with ISO set at 100 and highest image resolution - that gives more options for cropping and getting details out of an image.

Strengths:

size, weight, battery life

Weaknesses:

slow focus on non-contrast items : need to move POV to some reference to focus and then move back to an object to take a picture.

not a wide angle : widest is 35mm in 35 mm equivalent.

Similar Products Used:

Nikon Coolpix

Customer Service:

dropped the camera and focusing stopped working. Sent to a factory, they wanted $100 to fix it. Went ahead and bought 870 IS instead (which is a wide angle, 28mm equ)

Review 4 of 5

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

Hi,
I purchase it this month and I am quite happy with the performance. This is a power packed gadget. I simply loved it. I tried taking the images in the night and all of them are superb. The 6x optical Zoom is wonderful, it gives clear pictures. I have tried it in almost all the modes and it works fine. Before purchasing this cam, i did a lot of survey on the cams available in the market like sony, nikon etc. Now, I am quite happy with this small wonder. Also, the movies made by this cam are wonderful. In short, its worth its price or you can say more than that. Three cheers for A720!!!.
Regards,
Amit

Strengths:

Greater display, powerful optical zoom
