Strength:

Fits in a pocket, reasonbly durable, excellent battery life, and fast SD performance.

LCD is bright and big enough to review pics & compose well. See problem below.

Use this to get all the spontaneous shots you would miss with your big SLR.

Weakness:

Some report that the retracting lens mechanism is fragile. Never put it away with the lens out. I've logged thousands of pics without any problems.

The only problem I had was that the LCD developed white spots. These did not affect the performance or pictures, but made it much harder to compose pics. Initially, I only had one, but later 2 more appeared. Seems others have reported this problem as well.

I had the camera serviced by camerasandparts.com for 79.00. They fixed it perfectly, and returned the camer in under 10 days. Wish I had done it sooner.

Excellent camera overall. I have several SLR digital cameras which I use for telephoto and high speed sport shooting.

Before this camera, I would lug the big ones on trips. While the quality of the big glass SLR's can't be beat, having this cam in my pocket means I get a lot more shots. The photos are credible enlarged up to 8X10, face recognition focus and auto ISO works great.

I travel with my kids, and the movie feature is great. We take interesting video snippets and stills, and then put them together into trip "rock videos" on the PC.

Battery life is fantastic. Fits in the pocket. Low light performance is good.

Customer Service

Tried to contact Canon customer service by email about the problem. No response. Got immediate service from camerasandparts.com with a good, relatively inexpensive repair.

I am very disappointed with this camera. About 10% of the pictures I took are blurry, it seems to me that the camera is unable to focus.

I just bought it because I read very good reviews, maybe I was unlucky with this unit.

Customer Service

Focus problem. The camera does not focus well. Sometimes I take pictures at daylight with automatic configuration (or any other settings) and the picture are blurry.

I sent it to Canon authorized repair center and they did not find the problem... even more disappointing.
