Fujifilm FinePix XP10 Above 10 Megapixel

Fujifilm FinePix XP10 Above 10 Megapixel

DESCRIPTION

The FinePix XP10 is the first in a new category of super-tough, 'Four-Proof' digital cameras - waterproof, freezeproof, shockproof and dustproof. Resulting from a redesign of Fujifilm's best-selling FinePix Z33WP, the FinePix XP10 is an ergonomically "life proof" camera housed in a metal uni-body chassis with a tactile grip finish. The FinePix XP10 sports a 12-megapixel CCD sensor, a 2.7-inch, high-contrast LCD for better viewing in bright sunlight and a high-precision, Fujinon 5x periscopic optical zoom lens with a reinforced protective lens barrier. The FinePix XP10 is only 21.7mm thin, and retains the chiselled design of a conventional compact camera.

Strength:

The Fujifilm FinePix XP10 is a good choice for those who prioritize durability and ease of use over top-notch image quality. It's a great option for capturing memories on adventures without worrying about damaging your camera.

Weakness:

However, if you're a serious photographer who needs excellent image quality or extensive manual controls, you might want to consider a different camera. beach products wholesale

Strength:

Same with others I still have to try experimenting with the LCD brightness settings, but I'll have to alter it inside & retest outdoors and continue changing to see if I can make it better. For now, I'm simply taking down 1 star, in the hopes I can rectify this. Visit our company

Strength:

Compact Design.
5x Zoom.
Picture Quality.
Good Video.
Good selection of programed Presets.

Weakness:

Viewscreen difficult to see in bright light or in the water.
Service and/or Repair.
Possible moisture seal issue.
Easy to block lens with finger when taking action shots.

Received as a Father Day's Gift. The camera worked well for the summer. Picture quality was very good for a waterproof point and shoot. The view screen was difficult to see in bright sunlight making it difficult to take pictures. It also took some time to get use to the small control buttons.

Major problems developed when I took the camera to Mexico on a snorkeling trip last September. It was difficult to use the Viewscreen most of the time in the water. The camera worked well for the first couple of days. The camera never went more than 3 feet deep in the water. On the third day, I noticed that condensation started to show in the lens area. Later that day, the Viewscreen developed a white static border. The next day, the Camera became unresponsive.

The pictures from the first couple of days were very good, but many were off center because of the difficulty in seeing the Viewscreen.

Since returning, I have tried on several occasions to have the camera repaired. So far Fujifilm has not responded to any of my messages.

Customer Service

Have been unable to get the camera fixed. No response from Fujifilm after several inquiries. Camera is non-functional. Looking at getting another brand of waterproof camera.

Strength:

Decent video and 8x10 enlargements look very good. Macro capability very good except for 3.5 inches should really be about 1-2 inches for true macro.

Weakness:

The only weak spot so far is the flash, not very good here. Not so decent sound recording mic muffles some noise

I find the camera has a different design from most , that does not bother me. . Ease of use is very good, love the one touch video button. Like the 5x zoom. great closeups even though only 3.5 inches very capable camera with great features in a small tough package. Overall solid 4 of 5

Strength:

High quality pictures

Many different pre-programmed settings

5X optical zoom

Truly waterproof (tested up to 4 feet so far!)

Weakness:

Somewhat confusing settings menu

dim viewscreen in bright surroundings

battery life limited to ~ 165 shots (uses lithium batteries, and they have to be removed to charge) - plan on another $20+ for an extra battery (or two if you do all-day excursions). Haven't shot much video, but seems that eats battery life up very fast).

Although this camera takes great pictures, and has a higher level of optical zoom than any other similarly-priced waterproof camera (5x), the viewscreen is almost impossible to see in bright surroundings, such as the beach and snorkeling on sunny days (forget viewing thru swim goggles!). The camera is smart enough to get clear shots of whatever you're pointed at, but it's just about impossible to be certain that you have your subject centered. Since the camera is advertised as an "adventure camera", I find that a significant drawback. I still have to try playing with the LCD brightness settings, but I'll have to change it inside & retry outside and keep adjusting to see if I can get it better. For now, I'm only taking off 1 star, in the hopes I can fix this. Pre-setting the viewscreen for the bright settings it's intended for (or adding an easily accessed indoor-outdoor toggle) would have been a big help.

Note that NO memory cards come with the camera, and the internal memory only holds 1 hi-res shot - so add $10 - $20 bucks to the price for a decent SD card.

A general comment is that the CD/online-only users manual for such a multi-capable device meant for outdoor use is an ongoing frustration I have with manufacturers - I'd gladly pay an extra buck for a bound pocket-sized manual, but printing the whole thing myself is not a very helpful solution as I 'd either have a pile of loose paper or a full-size binder to tote around. Please return to the days of print manuals!
