Strengths: The Stylus Tough 6020 is simple to use even if you never looked at a manual. The controls are intuitive and smooth to use. The 14 megapixels make a great photo able to be printed quite large. It works really well in low light, and all the presets in scene mode have an explanation, in camera, in case you wonder what cuisine mode might be:D
It's so nice and small!
Weaknesses: NOT Waterproof, but it is a fine Water Resistant camera.
The stupid flash seems to want to go off even in the most brightly lit situations! You have to, EVERYTIME, Turn it off...Annoying.
Other Than That, I Really Enjoy The Camera.Bottom Line: My family and I bought the camera for a vacation to Jamaica, and I figured that it'd be great for just bumming around as well, instead of hauling my big cameras around with me everywhere.
we also got it for a steal! $100 Off Of The Normal Price Of $279.00:D
It excels in the point and shoot arena. The extras, like, magic mode (pinhole, fisheye, draw mode, and pop art), and the extensive presets in scene mode, not to mention the awesomeness of it's panorama capability and movie mode, make this an easy and really intuitive little camera!
We started in the pool here at home to make sure it didn't fill up with water or do anything odd, as I could not believe The manufacturers claim of waterproof...And while it did a great job here, in the field (on vacation in the ocean and pools of Jamaica) it lasted all of two days before it freaked out and went black, then never turned on again.
Now we really did put it to test~Nods~ It swam in hand, it went under salt water, took movies and photos underwater right down to 6ft, only to be pushed and made to click pictures at breakfast lunch & dinner too. I never tested the shockproof claim, it was already a distressing feeling to use it so freely in the water! LOL
The waterlog did not wreck my memory card, but it was all in the battery compartment/usb plug, and the flash and lens were completely fogged with condensation...all attempts at drying it out were to no avail. I believe it was warm water that caused it. after using it in our Cold Canadian pool it performed really well.
Oddly enough the microphone continued to work up until the time it went totally dead.
The pictures after a swim became very Lumography looking, all dreamy and super colors.
If you wish to purchase this camera for a vacation or other types of underwater activity, then be assured you DO NOT make it go underwater in warm waters. It really is a nice liitle point and shoot, but it's claims of waterproof should be changed to water resistant.
