Strengths:    rugged camera, hd video format, large zoom, easy to use , good quality pictures

Weaknesses:    if you play with it a lot, review, zoom in switch modes it can eat your battery

Bottom Line:
The Sony DSC-H55 is a 14mp wide angle 10x zoom camera with a li-ion battery and charger. i bought mine second hand , which is great because you get a very nice camera for a price you buy a new thin stylish toy. This is not a toy, it makes great pictures escpecialy in bright light .

In a lot reviews they say it is slow from shot to shot , that depends partialy on the speed of the card a class 4 card is minimun i recomend a class 10 hi speed card , makes writing the large files easy to the card

Is it perfect ? no it is a good camera but the aperture (fstop) value of the lens dedicates that it strengths lie outdoors the Maximum aperture is F3.5 - F5.5 . for real low light you need f2.8 but then the price tag is different and higher .

the iso range is Auto, 80,100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 where i woul not recommend using 1600 -3200 iso because of the grainyness of the picture .

The lens used is a 25 – 250 mm (10×) (35mm) Sony G lens , i have turned of digital zoom because it deteriorates the image quality very badly.

the images it makes a bright and colourfull , the antishake does it;s job fair , for real handheld zoom shots you need a steady hand or mini tripod

it has several modes, like the auto mode, ease mode , scene mode , movie mode and sweep panorama and the programed auto and manual mode

the 3" screen gives you a fair indication of the Image quality like most compacts it is stuck at 230.000 pixels . it uses a live view system there is no optical viewfinder. you can use grid lines on the display to prevent images from being not straigtht horizontally or vertical i got a bag for free to protect it from dust and to transport the camera well

overall i am happy with it , the sweeppanorama is unique and easy to use
the scene modes are nice but that is just it . for real control use the M mode , but i mostly use the auto or easy fucntion
