Summary:
The Kodak DCS 330 Professional Camera produces one of the finest images available in a professional level camera. In my role as product manager for integrating digital cameras into complete photographic systems, I have found the 330 to consistantly deliver a high quality image of correct color with extreme sharpness. The only drawback is that you can't expect to apply all of your traditional film photography skills to this camera. It is, in all honesty, a new animal and any owner should expect a learning curve to take full advantage of the cameras capabilities while avoiding it's limitations. Strengths:
Sharpness. I received the beta camera to test and the camera was actually too sharp. In the release of the camera it was fined tuned to perfection. The degree of sharpness is one of the determining factors in determining how much the image may be enlarged.
Color Control. Unlike other professional cameras by Nikon and Fuji, the Kodak camera uses Kodaks skill at color management and gives the user the ability to control color levels without using photoshop or other image editing programs. Weaknesses:
Limitied ISO of 125-400. This limits the camera's ability in low lite conditions. Indoor events under mercury vapor lighting where no flash photography is allowed is not feasible.
Nikon Pronea Camera body. Not very rugged.
Compressed proprietary TIFF. The same feature that allows Kodak to apply color management, image information, image orientation and the like creates the necessity of a file format that cannot simply be opened in image viewing programs. The sacrifice is worth the control. Similar Products Used:

In general, Kodak support is very good. Of the several 330 cameras that I have used, 10% have had on board flash problems. Kodak has repaired these in short order, however, I would not recommend using any on-board flash unit if the objective is high quality images.
