    Review 1 of 1

    Price Paid:  $600.00 from ebay

Summary:This digital back was not a new, recent one...
Keep this in mind (when you read my review).

But, regarding to what I paid for it, I consider it as beïng more then a good deal...!
I was already looking for a digital back for my studiocamera (Mamiya RZ67 ProII) for a long time, but just didn't find a good one that fitted in the pricerange that I had in mind.
Untill I found one on ebay.

Then came the day it was delivered at my home...
Opening the boxes (it was a full set, complete).
It was in perfect (visual) condition.

    Then came my first problem...
Beïng a cable-connected system, I tried to install the PCI-card on my PowerMac (G5 - 1,6GHz) since the system only works on Mac... The PCI-card didn't fit into the PCI-slot...
I didn't understand why... Untill (after searching the net & different forums, more then 1 month later) somebody (on the net) explained me the difference between the 2 types of PCI-cards that are used on Mac's (if I'm not wrong it was something about 3.3V & 5V, if I'm not mistaken, again)... This type of cards fitted only in G3's & G4's (as I was told on the net)...
So I bought a PowerMac G4 DP 1,42GHz on ebay. The card fitted perfectly in.
(this means an extra cost of 500USD > so in fact I paid the system 1100USD)

Only now I was able to test the system (after 1,5 months)... At last...!
It works as a charm...!!! At last I could work digitally on my RZ67 ProII...
The results are more then satisfying!

I consider it as beïng a very good entrance into the digital studio-environment (I own already some years a CANON EOS 30D, so I consider myself not really a "digital virgin")... :-)

Strengths:Adaptable to different systems (when you got the adapters...)

    Rather cheap (secondhand)

6MP (always better possible, but more expensive) , but this can also be considered as "weakness"...

Good item as introduction into digital studio-work... :-)

    Weaknesses:Rather large...

    Only 6MP...

A lot of cables hanging around the camera (1 between the Mac & the powersupply, 1 between the powersupply & the back, 1 between the back & the RZ67 frontconnector, 1 synchrocable with switch).

Only 25ASA (max 100ASA), but OK for studio-use.

    Only 1 shot every +/- 3 seconds... A bit slow for fashion-shoots...
If you put it on "auto-save" it even takes > 2 minutes...

Customer Service:LEAF Belgium > I have a rather good contact with these people, since I bought the back.
