Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $18500.00 from Mexico City

Summary:

High Price. Dificult technical advice.Good chance to upgrade the system. Antiechonomical and unpractical multishot sessions.

Strengths:

My Sinarback 23 L with my Sinar P2 camera always is ready to work. Since april 2001 to this very moment there has not been any light problem. I only work with the back in my studio, so i dont have to experience the high cost of sinar portable accesories. The digital back has good color stability, no problems caused because of the generated heat of the equipment.

Weaknesses:

Turn horizontal to vertical. Dust is a usual problem. Not ease captureshop software to use. Impossible long time exposures. I get bright bands of light in the higth luminous areas of the photo, specially with 1 to 4 secs exposures.

Customer Service:

Here in mexico, and specially the sinar distribuitors do not know anything about trainning or technical advice,

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $25000.00 from Chicago

Summary:

Great camera back. Single shot technology much better than most. Software terrific. Moire suppression outstanding. Color balancing excellent.

Strengths:

Two major strengths: one is the moire suppression. Lets face it moire is the biggest problem with the single shot backs. Our extensive experience shows that the Sinar is less likely to create moire in files generally as it is. But, when moire is a problem, the hardware solution is the best solution we have found. It is still not perfect, but really good. Secondly, the color balancing. The Sinar balances off of a complete Macbeth chart, not just the grey values. We tested in the same scenario, six different digital camera backs and the color of the Sinar was easily the most accurate. In four shot mode, this camera gives the best files we have seen.

Weaknesses:

You have to learn the software. Like all the major manufacturers, support and training are limited at best. It is up to you to learn to use it. Also, by todays standards, the camera is a little bit pricey, but I anticipate costs to become competitive.
